2009 Harlan County

Three Wishes - Where is the football camp they go to? I can't remember. And, do you know what other teams are going to be there?

It is past Nancy, Ky at a 4H Camp. I'm pretty sure Rockcastle County and Lynn Camp will be there, they usually are.

Green will be at TB, I'd say QB is between Brewer and Williamson. However, Williamson is at Governors Scholars for the next 2-3 weeks.

They've both worked hard during the off season. I'm sure Williamson will be throwing in his leisure time while he is away. Brewer will continue to work hard. I hope they both do well. As we found out last year, an injury can happen quickly and whoever the reserves are will need to be ready. I'm sure Coach Creech will be working with incoming Freshmen, Maggard, as well. I think he has a lot of potential.

Football Practice going strong, youth camp starts tomorrow, and the pig roast Saturday....This is as good as it gets until the season starts. It's good to be a Black Bear!

kicker?

He is the kicker and punter.

I have been a little occupied and am just getting back into things.....

I look for a few of the kids to have special years......

Ball...Man Child

Dylon Smith...has a pair of rocket boosters attached to him

James Phillips..See comments on Ball

One kid I look for phenominal results out of is Jordan Calton. Jordan has the frame and raw talent, if he can pack weight on, to be as good as anyone from around here in a long time.

I agree. Jordan is a player. Look for him to be dominate on the field. He has the attitude, Work ethics, and all it takes for a player. He will be in shape to play both ways if needed.

It may be the only issue Mama Bear and I disagree on, but I don't think playing basketball would take away from his game. Calton made a huge improvement from his freshman to sophomore year while he was playing basketball. You can still lift weights and play basketball.

Where?

Where?

In a weight room, garage, a gym, a friend's house....

But he didn't play Basketball this year and hit the weights and go a lot stronger. He didn't get huge but really added some good weight! I look for him to open some eyes this year.

Pig Roast tomorrow for the Black Bears! Everyone should come out and support them!

Pig Roast was a success, I thought it would help hold me over until football season but it just made me more anxious! Go Bears!

The kids had a great time. Nice weather, good food, good music, and good company. Had plenty of help from all corners of the county. Their youth camp was a great success as well. The coaches really really put in their time this week for the kids here. They've put in some long hours this first week.

As well as being one of the most successful coaches in the state, apparently Coach Larkey is quite an impressive corn-hole player! I HEARD he put the smack down on one team inparticular. She may still be pouting about it and his team mate probably slept on the couch last night. :p

Uncle Rico, is the Harlan County helmet like your avatar, or is that just a little creativity on your part?

That's what it will look like this year. Last year it was an intertwined HC.

:ohbrother: LOL, now Mama Bear, I wouldn't call it a smack down...we almost had Coach and "Den Daddy". I think I had him scared though; he couldn't make any "shots" there towards the end of the game. He doesn't like sleeping on the couch!

Many kids play 2 or more sports. I agree with HDE if a kid wants to he can play 2 or more sports and still get big in weight room. That is all up to the individual kid and how hard he wants to work. Basketball makes kids better football players and football makes kids better B-ball players. I think I said that correct, but anyway I agree with HDE. Good Luck to the Bears.
