I have dish and I have no complaints! My family couldn't live without comedy central and TVland. I, too, saw that across the bottom of my screen this morning and I almost panicked until I saw it was a Time Warner thing.

 

I have a neighbor with Time Warner and he has come over to watch Bengals games on our Dish network b/c his cable seems to go out whenever the wind is out of the west, LOL.

Viacom has put the scroll on ALL their channels. Therefore independent cable operators such as us are getting TONS of calls wondering why their Nickeloden is going to be cut off.

 

Seems like a lot of stations are asking for more money in this hard time. Recently, WBKO out of Bowling Green and several other local stations decided they were going to start charging $40,000+ dollars a year to allow us and other cable operators to carry there channel. Which in return requires a cable rate increase and a bunch of unhappy customers. Pretty sorry if you ask me.

We are negotiating earnestly, honestly and fairly with MTV Networks, but so far have been unable to reach an agreement or get an extension.

 

MTV Networks may pull its channels from your lineup on January 1st.

 

• MTV Networks wants our customers to pay millions more. They are currently demanding price increases that are nearly triple the rate of increase under our current agreement. These increases would be excessive even in a strong economy, but given the current conditions, it’s simply not fair to our customers.

In Frankfort we have FPB ( Frankfort Plant Board ) for cable service along with alot of other stuff. We are to lose the Louisville affiliates at 11:59 pm tonight. This was also for increases. Our cable is to go up 80 cents per month and lose 3 channels. :irked:

Blame this on the economy, cutbacks.

It's really annoying to have those messages flashing across the screen on so many channels. They should have found a better way to target just the customers that are effected.

 

A lot of cable companies are using the impending switch to digital broadcasting to their advantage. They're switching channels from their basic line-ups to digital line-ups and forcing you to rent their set-top boxes. Apparently, there's nothing the government can do to stop them.

I have news for Time Warner - if that particular list of channels is gone, then my family is gone, as well.

Central Kentucky

I've had Directv for about 4 years. I love the service and we will never go back to cable.

I'm thinking they may get this worked out before the channels are cut off. If not that's just sad, they'll lose a ton of business.

My mother is a supervisor in the marketing department for Time Warner up in Blueash. I'll give her a call tonight and try and find out what's going on.

:thumb:Comedy Central is great when you can't sleep, Spike has some solid TV shows and you've gotta be able to watch the UFC stuff that they provide. As for Nick, ha, umm I suppose I can watch some of it occasionally.

I tend to watch Nick at Nite when I go to sleep. Big fan of the Fresh Prince.
