December 31, 200817 yr Viacom has asked for fee increases of between 22 percent and 36 percent per channel, or a total of $39 million more, an amount that could increase customers' cable bills, said Time Warner Cable spokesman Alex Dudley. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081231/ap_ ... rner_cable With over 20 million subscribers, I'm sure if they forward the cost to the subcribers directly, then the cost increase won't be very drastic. We're talking about a less than $2.00 annual increase. If the $39 million is an annual cost. So a whopping $0.17 increase to the monthly cost. Now I know people are saying that times are tough, but come on now.
December 31, 200817 yr We are negotiating earnestly, honestly and fairly with MTV Networks, but so far have been unable to reach an agreement or get an extension. MTV Networks may pull its channels from your lineup on January 1st. • MTV Networks wants our customers to pay millions more. They are currently demanding price increases that are nearly triple the rate of increase under our current agreement. These increases would be excessive even in a strong economy, but given the current conditions, it’s simply not fair to our customers. Time Warner Cable: MTV Networks :thumb::thumb:

December 31, 200817 yr Same thing happened a few years ago with Dish...They got it all worked out in a couple of days...
January 1, 200917 yr OK, I can definately deal without my preteens seeing A Double Shot of Love or Next or any of the other garbage that MTV puts out there ... but if Insight pulls all those channels as well, I'd have a hard time staying with them too... January 1, 200917 yr I love my DirecTV. I had cable before I moved and seemed to lose service a couple of days a month. Since there was no cable where I moved to, I went with DirecTV. I might lose a few minutes of service during a severe storm, but other than that, I love it!
January 1, 200917 yr I was listening to news on the radio and they said it amounted to a $0.23 a customer raise. So I was close, I just kinda rounded on their subscriber total. But yea, this seems to be about more than just cost.
January 1, 200917 yr Does Maysville have Time Warner? I know I have Bracken Cable Vision, but is that Time Warner? Because all I watch is ESPN, MTV, VH1, and Comedy Central!!!! What is the latest news concerning this.
January 1, 200917 yr Its odd that they would be running scrolls at the bottom of screens warning customers they were losing channels, when all along they were still negotiating a deal.
