January 3, 200917 yr Well a 1000 pounds it is... I plan to have my share of it off for sure by the six month mark. Not it's a matter of keeping it there and maybe shedding a few more too. Have we decided how long the competition is going to last ? My personal goal would be to loose 30-50 pounds in 4-6 months. I don't have a problem losing weight, it's keeping it off that gets me.

January 3, 200917 yr Welcome to my world lol...but yes as BF has said. We are going to have two competitions running together for a six months and a year. Seriously, I can lose 50 pounds in 3 or 4 months and 40 pounds of it is back 3 months after I go off the diet. I usually do 1000 calories a day when I diet for 3 or 4 months and I lose very quickly. I'm thinking of bumping that up to 1500 or so a day since I will be going 6 months and to see if it helps the weight stay off any when were done.

When you do 1000 calories a day...What do you usually eat in a day to keep you from not being so hungry? I have been told that's the easiest way to lose the weight. I am going to be walking a lot too.
January 4, 200917 yr Author I have always been told eat about six meals a day, but the portions are supposed to be miniscule...I could never do it. And, good news... rockmom go the okay to make tomorrow's thread a sticky. So, be looking for it.
January 4, 200917 yr Well I just drank my last pop before the big day. For that reason and I just found out I have to get my glucose checked this week. Anyone had a glucose test before? I'm told it takes about 3 hours of monitoring the glucose in my blood.
January 4, 200917 yr Anyone had a glucose test before? I'm told it takes about 3 hours of monitoring the glucose in my blood.I had one and it's no big deal. You have to drink a liquid down within like a minute. It took me a (state record) 20 seconds or so. It tasted pretty good to me' but I would recommend going in thirsty, just in case. After that's done, you sit around and battle boredom for three hours, in between getting blood draws taken. I think the blood draws were every hour or so.
January 4, 200917 yr And, good news... rockmom got the okay to make tomorrow's thread a sticky. So, be looking for it.Glad somebody's got some pull around here. Okay, whose going to take the plunge and become our 40th participant?!
January 4, 200917 yr Author Glad somebody's got some pull around here. Okay, whose going to take the plunge and become our 40th participant?! It's been a couple days since the last person decided to join, I don't know if we are going to be able to find another. Maybe when everyone is posting their weights tomorrow, someone might see it and decided they would like to join. Which would be perfectly fine.

I am going to be walking a lot too. You'd actually be surprised at the amount of food you can eat on a 1000 calorie a day diet. A lot of vegetables along with smaller portions of meat but still very filling meals. Chicken or fish are typically my meat of choice while dieting especially for dinner. For example: An entire can of green beans has around 70 calories. If you like green beans, that makes for a great snack or side dish to a meal. A dill pickle spear has around 5 calories. I've found some great low calorie soups that make for good snacks or additions to meals also. Most of subways 6 inch subs are between 2 and 3 hundred calories. Go ahead and plan on cutting out all mayonnaise consumption while on the diet, nothing but calories in that stuff. Subway also has some really good soups that are very low calorie. You're going to be hungry at some point if you try 1000 calories a day. There's really no way around it. Anytime I got the urge to grab a handful of potato chips I just drank a huge glass of water. It's all about will power and control as any diet is. I also made it a habit to write down everything I ate and how many calories were in it while I was on the diet. That seemed to help.
January 4, 200917 yr Author Last time I dieted, I was almost always hungry at night. It really didn't go away....but you get used to it I guess.
January 4, 200917 yr Last time I dieted, I was almost always hungry at night. It really didn't go away....but you get used to it I guess. It's just a will power thing in my opinion. I try to go to bed earlier when I diet. The longer I sleep, the less time I have to be hungry
January 4, 200917 yr Ok, I'll put in the 40th person, Mr. Mom55 has been feeling lousy lately and it's because of his weight. If I'm doing it then so is he.
January 4, 200917 yr Author haha...sounds good. And the other thread was just posted so that people could post in the morning if they desired too.
