Thread? Singular? That's not what I remember.

 

Between Mitchell and Nevels BGP had to upgrade their server.

I remember a thread long about about a candidate for the Beechwood b-ball job. One candidate was immediately written off simply because he had not coached a high school team previously. I knew the guy and stood up for him. Apparently, one of the candidates' family member somehow figured out my ID and told me in a PM what my name was and my address and who my neighbors were. That certainly caught my attention.

 

I also once posted that posters set kids up to fail by stating that they were definitely D1 despite never getting any D1 offers. I posted it in response to a posting about a particular kid. I wasn't saying the kid couldn't play. He was very good by NKY standards. However , his dad sent me a PM threatening to kick my tail if he ever found out who I was.

 

I guess he didn't know the lady from Beechwood.

Nets told me about BGP, he knows what a b-ball fan I am. Been a member since 2002. I have met lots of BGP posters in person and made alot of friends. The one friend I didn't get to meet in person, but PM several times a day was All Thumbs....miss him alot.

That is great news if it is Frances Bauvier.

Agreed. I always enjoyed reading anything by Frances. I remember some of the back and forth debates Frances had with FastBreak in P&R about evolution, among other topics. Some of the best I've read on BGP by two very intelligent people.

I remember being welcomed by cch5432 in a PM and instantly arguing with people in UofL football threads :lol:

2. Me and Sportz Addict seemed to be the only Tubby Bashers on here at one point

3. Realizing I was about the only Braves fan on this site

4. All Thumbs death was very sad and I still remember it well

5. Being suspended numerous times

6. Realizing most people are from Northern KY and have little clue when I mention stuff from East KY.

I don't know if some of the older people know how much influence this website has on current high school athletes. There wasn't a week that went by when I played that a conversation didn't come up about something that was said on BGP. And that was by both players and coaches. I figured if that many people were talking about then I should probably join.

I honestly don't remember alot of my first post on here and admit that I was proabably viewed as the village idiot......and probably still am. :eek::lol:

 

I have to say that my best memories are and always will be making some great friends on here, some that I have yet to ever meet but feel that I have known all my life. People like RebeK, Atticus7..(what can I say, all class), Francis Bavier (yes, PLEASE come back Francis...we need you!!!), Stick1, Painter, Graybeard, the professor (love your post), STRIKE3 (loved his baseball knowledge and conversations),Tater Salad (one of the best names on here), Bluto (Oh My!!!), Wireman and GT(o.k......... for Michigan fans), Average Joes Gym (o.k. for a BoSox fan) I am sure that there are countless ones that I am forgetting as well .

There are ones that I have known for years, people like Cvillecat, most know that we are best of friends/as close as brothers, We have been shooting, hunted and fished together for years and have been close since we were young boys......when they wore leather helmets (not really) and used wooden baseball bats (really)), Incognito , The Red Rambler, The Greatest Fan, Ram, LRCW, most of the many Raceland fans on bgp now (if I don't know you personally I know your older sisters or brothers and maybe some of your fathers). I know there are others on bgp that I know and am forgetting as well....(age does that to a person )

(BTW ..... Cvillecat, please start posting more.....I think that I can speak for most everyone in that you are missed ..........and needed on here.:thumb:)

 

Now for my favorite threads and post on BGP....most were nothing to do with sports.....rather many of the prayer threads. Prayer threads are where people can see what BGP is really made of.............great people. I have said before and I will NEVER forget the thread about prayer for Mrs. Rambler when she was facing a life threatening emergecy surgery and the prayer for myself when I was hospitilized on a severe exasperation of my M.S.. BTW, I am gong through worsening of the m.s. lately and would appreciate any and all prayers.

 

Well, I have "Rambled" on again so I will just leave it for now and say a heatfelt thank you to all of BGP, the Guru and the mods for a wonderful site.

I'm not sure what year it was but BGP came to our grade school basketball tournament at ST Therese in Southgate " The Mustang Classic " and took a lot of pictures and posted them online. I didn't join until a few years later when my youngest was a sophomore at NCC .
