December 8, 200817 yr It was the Vandy game. The winner was going to MCB and the loser to Memphis. If UK wins the last two then they play in Atlanta. If I'm not mistaken, UK had an invite to both bowls and they chose Liberty so that the team could have a new experience.

December 8, 200817 yr I know quite a few UK alum that were planning on going to the bowl game, but have decided not to because it's in Memphis. Don't blame them one bit. Not the nicest place in the world. You guys are crazy. The Liberty Bowl and Memphis is a blast, I have been to 3 of them. If you stay downtown within walking distance of Beal Street you will have a graet time. I would recommend the Peabody Hotel or the Hilton Gardens Suites. I would also recommend BB King's for music & New Year's eve and the Blues City Cafe for great food and ribs. It can get cold but a couple of years ago the temps were in the upper 70's. Do yourself a favor and go.

You need to be inside on New Year's eve. We had reservations at BB Kings for something like $50.00 you got a table, dinner, champaign, great bands all night and a wrist band that let you in and out if you wanted to mix it up with the crowd on Beal St.
December 8, 200817 yr If you all head down to Memphis I do urge you to eat at Neely's Barbeque. You haven't LIVED until you've had some. They have been featured on the food network many times and are recognized as having some of the best barbeque there is to offer around the nation!

I was there with my son for a baseball tournament and some nice people I had met while down at memphis said the city was 80% Africa-American so I thought that was interesting. They do have some of the best barbeque though that I have ever eaten and thats saying something!:thumb: Wow. So UK fans shouldn't go because they might be around African Americans? Really?

New Orleans, Myrtle Beach and Las Vegas are in the top ten dangerous cities. But people keep going and enjoying what they have to offer. Memphis is great, especially Beal street.:ylsuper:

Memphis is great, especially Beal street.:ylsuper: Two places that stand out to me as places I could less if I ever visit again is Little Rock and Memphis, IMO the bad outweighs the good in those two places... And for Memphis to be ranked right behind Detroit, Washington DC and Baltimore says a lot...
December 9, 200817 yr I am at a dillemma and want your all's input on what you would do: In terms of Hotels; - Bite the bullett and pay $180+ for a hotel close to Beale Street - Pay a very affordable $60-70 for a hotel in Germantown or East Memphis that is not too far from the Stadium, but rediculously far from Beale. - Pay $60-80 for a very nice room at one of the Casino's in Tunica, MS,which is 50 minutes from Memphis, but would have night life on site
