December 9, 200817 yr I am at a dillemma and want your all's input on what you would do: In terms of Hotels; - Bite the bullett and pay $180+ for a hotel close to Beale Street - Pay a very affordable $60-70 for a hotel in Grmantown or East Memphis that is not too far from the Stadium, but rediculously far from Beale. - Pay $60-80 for a very nice room at one of the Casino's in Tunica, MS,which is 50 minutes from Memphis, but would have night life on site Bite the bullet...

Unfortunately, I was in the band so I was unable to do as much as I wanted. However, we did go to Graceland and checked out the Hotel where MLKJr. was shot. There is a REALLY cool mall downtown that you have to go to, that was probably my favorite part. And then of course you have Beale Street. That is probably one of the best places I've experienced New Years besides Miami Beach.

December 9, 200817 yr Two places that stand out to me as places I could less if I ever visit again is Little Rock and Memphis, IMO the bad outweighs the good in those two places... And for Memphis to be ranked right behind Detroit, Washington DC and Baltimore says a lot... Like I said my wife & I have been to 3 Liberty Bowls and have never had a bit of trouble and always had a great time.

I had a great time last year and know I would enjoy myself in Memphis if I go, however I still stand by the fact Memphis is not a good city and the crime statistics back that up, and anyone who has concerns about going shouldn’t be treated like there’s no reason for those concerns. About two years ago I traveled to Oklahoma City and on my way there I stopped in Memphis and then Little Rock, it was then I realized I needed a concealed deadly weapons license, if I go this year I'll be glad I have it...

If you stay near Beal Street you will be fine. Also the area surrounding the stadium is safe. Outside of that I could not tell you because I don't go looking for trouble because you will likely find it.
