I felt this coming for about a year now.

 

Was it not obvious that Tommy Tuberville's hiring of Tony Franklin to be an act of desperation?

So does Aubrn talk to Mike Leach? His record says he should get a call, but didn't they fire Tony Franklin because his spread offense didn't fit the culture of Auburn? How will they like Leach's Air Raid offense?

 

Who are other candidates?

 

They fired Franklin because the offense wasn't scoring points. Forget about the culture...if Leach came in a threw it all over the field and was successful, the Auburn folks would be tickled to death.

Franklin was an outsider from the very beginning. He wasn't allowed to bring in any of his staff, so he had to get a lot of people to buy in and believe. If you don't have anyone to show support when it gets tough than it makes it a hard culture to change. Since Mike would be able to bring whoever, he will immediately be at an advantage.

I'll be surprised if they replace him with an upgrade. Auburn will flounder around like 'Bama did before Saban came along...a satisfactory season here and there while the rest are disappointments and the fans will be in a state of unrest.

 

For whatever reason, they never seemed to be fully on board with Tuberville despite his success. And, IMO, they pressured him into making the move to bring in Franklin and that was a disaster. His identity is physical, run first football...ahh, I'll quit my rant for now.

 

Maybe they'll get lucky and land Leach...

I always liked him. Tech is going to have to get on Leach's contract. If you were Auburn would you throw money at Paul Johnson with what he is doing at GA Tech? They always loved a physical run game there.

That was part of it. I think I know as much about this situation as anyone and trust me, there's more behind it than who to start at QB.

As far as AU hiring Leach, I highly doubt that will happen. Leach has too many ties to Tony Franklin. They are too much alike. I'll just leave it at that.
