Our beloved cats are a perfect example that we have way too many bowl games. This team is in no way, shape or form a good enough team to deserve a bowl. My question is, should the bowl teams be required to have 7 wins instead of 6? I say yes and for no other reason than how bad this UK team is.

I think you may be right. :creepy:

Can't really argue except to say UK seems to be a preference of bowl committees because the fans travel so well. Although, this year, the fact that they just aren't very fun to watch may overshadow selecting them due to fan support.

The 6 win deal came from years back when nobody played 12 games in the season. I agree that 6-6 isnt very deserving of a great reward and I would hate to see a non-losing year turn into a 6-7 losing season! But, it is what it is....go CATS!!! 3 in a row!

They would have to reduce the number of bowls to cut down on the 6-6 teams getting in OR take some mid major teams with better records but no SOS. I think it should be 7 wins, but as long as the bowls are drawing crowds and generating revenue, it will stay at 6.

Money talks and 6-6 walks :thumb:

They just have enough teams with 6 wins to fill out the existing bowls. In fact, they may have come up short.

They add a new bowl every year. When people quit watching, they'll stop or cut back on the bowls.

People keep watching.

Look for more bowls to be added next year.

Bowl games, are monetary rewards for your season. UK is certainly not playing worthy lately, but that 'ole saying "body of work" is appropriate here.

I'm for more Bowls or them becoming a Playoff format, but that is another thread.

Right now (if I counted right) there are 70 bowl eligible teams. Twelve of those teams are 6-6. There are also six teams that are either 6-5 or 5-6, UofL is one of the 5-6 teams.

There are 68 bowl slots. No way they are filled without taking the 6-6 teams.

A legit arguement is whether there are too many bowl games.

We were talking about this at work the other week. It was actually possible, with the way we have played as of late, to actually play ourselves into a worse situation. Now we could face a team like ourselves. A win over GA and Vandy could have got us into a bowl where we would be absolutely DESTROYED by a much more consistent team!

Go Big Blue!!!

I just think it really depends...Sure you could say a team is required to have 7 wins. But what if you had a team that had six losses to teams all in the Top 10. Would they deserve a bowl?
