November 23, 200817 yr The beginning of winter is a signal that highschool football season is coming to a close. bummer.
November 23, 200817 yr You're one of the few people I know who can fall down a huge flight of concrete steps, land in the street in a pile...then get themselves up, dust off, and go right into work as if nothing ever happened. :thumb: The other option was to try to get back up those stairs, which didn't seem like an option at all at that time. That wasn't courage, that was pragmatism. You probably still have bruises from that little stunt. Everytime I look up at those stairs on my way into the house, I definitely remember that morning.
November 23, 200817 yr The other option was to try to get back up those stairs, which didn't seem like an option at all at that time. That wasn't courage, that was pragmatism. True. But seriously, I'd call it dedication to your job -- something that's rare these days.
November 23, 200817 yr Amen! I hate not being able to sit outside. I get depressed by the dreary weather and the short days. I don't like having to put on jackets and sometimes a lot more, just to go out the door. I don't like being cold -- indoors or out. The only time I (sort of) like it is when we get a big snowfall. But it can't be a paralyzer that makes it impossible to be on the roads. I just hate winter! :madman: My favorite time of year is those first warm days of spring. How can such beauty and peace and quiet be depressing? You need to embrace the glory and wonder of winter. :thumb:

November 23, 200817 yr This is so easy..... Scraping ice and freezing cold in the last week of March and early April!
November 23, 200817 yr I really don't mind the cold, as a matter of fact I really prefer cool weather over the hot summertime humidity. I am not talking about the bitter cold, sub zero and 10 and below I have no use for. I literally hate the snow, ice in any way shape or form. I guess that I liked it when I was a kid and knew I would be out of school and would go sleigh riding all day (that's when kids actually played outside! Imagine that ). There imo is no possible good that can come out of snow and ice. Makes it more difficult and sometimes impossible to get around in. Once a person is of a certain age with responsiblities I can see no use for it. I don't even want snow on Christmas, I hate the song "White Christmas" and I dream of a "brown' (dead grass) or "green" Christmas.
November 23, 200817 yr I don't like the cold. The older I get the harder it is to take the cold. As an old fellow told me one time. "Cold is 5 degrees below your age." So I'm almost 52, then it starts to feel cold at 47. That is a good theory, I am the same age and I had never heard this but it sounds about right. A low of around 40 and high of 55-60 is my perfect temp range.
November 24, 200817 yr On the other hand, one thing I like about winter is that when the neighbor's dog does his business in our yard, at least it has a chance to freeze so that when I step on it on my way to get the newspaper it just bounces off the sole of my shoe.
November 24, 200817 yr People whining about it being too cold. Larry the Cable Guy had a classic statement about cold weather on his Christmas show. It was so cold he saw Al Gore burning tires to keep warm.
November 24, 200817 yr I love winter. Actually, I like having 4 distinct seasons. I enjoy seeing each one come and go. The one bad thing about winter is the potential for an ice storm. I hate those; I'm still traumatized from the last bad one.
November 24, 200817 yr I don't like driving in the snow at all. I will gladly watch it fall from the house, but when I have to get out in it, I get really nervous.
