Coach Rodenburg is the best coach IMO to come through CovCath. Reply with your opinions how you'd like to, but I stand strong in my belief.

I think Rodenburg was a great coach and he had the respect of the boys which is important. He made no secret of what his plans were and I admire him for that, because it isn't easy esp. with a school like CCH to make that openly known. I do think it was a mistake to hire someone who was going to jump ship so soon. Look what we ended up with!

In all honesty you couldn't be more wrong. There are a lot of hoops to jump through for such decisions and it is in no way a one man decision.

But when wouldn't a CCH team have been competitive in the past against similar competition?

 

Honestly, I don't think there is a CCH team in its history that would even be competitive with Cardinal Mooney, Elder or St. X. More competitive than this year's team yes. But all those opponenets would deal the best CCH team ever a 3 TD or more loss. This is arguably the best Highlands team of all time and they lost by two TD's to Colerain, who got beat by Elder. This year's schedule was brutal. Did Brossart put that schedule together or is that a leftover from Rodenburg?

It's the same way at a private school. What they're referring to is all of the "influence" the principal receives. Bottom line, if the principal doesn't want an employee, they're no longer an employee.

I'll respectfully disagree with both of you. While there was a committee last time it was solely Mike Clines' call. I believe that to be the case with Bob Rowe as well. Can the committee make a recommendation? Sure. They can't make the decision. That's the principal.

I was going to stay out of this conversation,but I had to answer the question.

I am parent of a current student and friends with many of the junior parents.

I have attended almost all of the games including JV the last 2 years and have gotten to know some of the players and many more parents.

Most of the parents and the players I talked too would like to see Brossart back. There is a small group that has been out to get him since the start of last season.Brossart has tried to up grade his staff but has gotten no help from the school itself.

Brossart would like to make changes but every time he has tried someone is yelling and screaming about how bad idea that is.

Also many of the stories about the program the last few months are false or only half the story came out.

Brossart came to a program that had to be rebuilt and then had to play one of

the toughest schedules in the state if not the country

It is time for all CovCath parents and fans to get behind the coach,let all move in the same direction we beat are self up this year and got us nowhere.

Interesting. The parents of VARSITY kids put a totally different opinion out there. But I will just PM you. No need to go back and forth in here. I would be willing to be your son is a JV player however.

If I were Mr. Rowe I would ask myself the following questions about keeping or replacing Coach Brossart!

 

Has he been a good role model for the students of the school and the players on the team?

 

Since he has been at CovCath have the players improved not only as football players but as students?

 

Has he taught the students to be gracious winners and good losers?

 

Has he worked to maintain/improve the image of CovCath in the community or on a state wide level?

 

Have the players had fun while being on his team?

 

Will they because of Coach Brossart be better men, fathers, husbands, or community leaders due to what he has taught them?

 

Has he and his coaching staff deflected criticisms away from his players and toward themselves instead and thus protecting the kids?

 

Have the players become better Catholics/Christians because of Coach Brossart?

 

These are the question I would ask of myself if I were Mr. Rowe about replacing or keeping Coach Brossart!

 

BTW, you did notice that I not once mentioned W's or L's!

 

I agree that these should be the main criteria for what happens in the future. Based on these criteria it is time for a change. This doesn't mean Coach Brossart is a bad coach, just not the right coach for this situation.
