Did CCH have any injuries to players early on that affected the out come of their season?

Indeed. I am very happy for Coach R. I had a family member who played under him and he thought the world of him as a coach and as a person.

Bob Crable played at Moeller, Notre Dame, and then for the New York Jets.

 

Crable replaced Steve Klonne at Moeller, who replaced Coach R at McNick, then Coach R replaced Crable at Moeller and who knows who Crable will replace.

 

Funny business aside, the "Bob Crable Rumor" has been circulating around NKY for a few weeks now.

I've heard this rumor before also. Honestly though, why would they want Crable other than a big name. He had everything he needed at his Alma Mater at Moeller, and still couldn't pull of the big wins needed to keep his job there. He had numbers, support, money (althought not their own field!), tradition (past National Champs in the 80's) and was an afterthought year after year next to Colerain and Elder! I don't think that would be a smart move.....they might as well go after Mike Wolfe and pray he is still interested after shunning him all these years....good luck CC.......(Not REALLY!):devil:

Nothing to do with bragging rights. A lot of the younger kids, who would have originally attended CCH, are now picking Beechwood to attend instead. And some of the underclassmen, from what I understand, may be leaving CCH and heading to Beechwood if indeed changes aren't made. That's why they are benefitting from CCH being down and having internal problems with the coaching staff.

I see, I know on varsity I just have not been aware off CCH players, perhaps on the freshman squad, I am not as familiar with them.

I wish they went for Wolfe or Dave Wirth.

A few things that I feel sum up this situation:

 

-Brossart has proven he cannot handle this job regardless of the talent level of the team. Like someone said before, he's made enemies with the wrong people at CCH.

 

-The first mistake was made in hiring Rodenberg. After having a guy like Lynn Ray who IS CCH football, you don't hire a guy who you know isn't planning on staying. I blame that on Mike Clines who other than that, is a great prinicipal and CCH person.

 

-Bottom line, you need to find a person that fits all the characteristics that TOG said before. Tony Acito gets my vote. If what I hear about Rowe is true, Acito fits that mold. Clines had some sort of beef with Acito but the bottom line is that Acito is a no nonsense, straight football guy.

 

-The hiring after Lynn Ray should have been done internally from the get-go. Now we have to deal with a coach like Dave Brossart as a result of the situation being handled improperly to start with.

I'm quite surprised Brossart got the job in the first place. He would not be my pick for a coach. He played entirely too many mind games with the boys in the past 2 years. He made enemies with the wrong people. He has no idea how to coach a school like CCH, and I think it has hurt the program immensely and it will only hurt them worse to keep him there. Kids that would have gone to CCH now look elsewhere.

Well, in the end Rodenburg ended up right where he wanted, so good for him...he did something right!

 

We took a step down in coaches IMO.

But when wouldn't a CCH team have been competitive in the past against similar competition?

 

More competitive yes. But I don't think the greatest team in CCH history would have had fewer than 2 losses against this year's schedule.

Rodenburg knew what the next year would turn out like, and it was not going to put him in a position to get his "dream job" at Moeller.

 

Like Rodenburg or not, he was a stand-up guy. He made it very clear while he was at CovCath that he cared little for "CovCath football". He cared about his players (and getting them to play at the next level), winning, and his future. Whether you like that approach or not, he was honest about it.

And that is about all he teaches. As a student during his time at CovCath, this guy wanted nothing to do with the classroom. In no way, should anyone be upset with Clines for hiring Rodenberg over Acito. Also, it is not simply his decision who to hire, there is a committee with faculty and coaches from other sports. :thumb:
