Do you guys love and support the program or do you love and support the propram as long as the coach you wanted gets hired?

 

The only thing I am pretty sure of is if the W's were piling up this thread wouldn't be on here. This very public flogging of your coach is very unbecoming of one of the best programs in Northern Kentucky/State. I don't know coach Brossart or what mistakes may have been made but who would want this job with all the negativity surrounding this program? What is this about the third thread on this topic?

 

2 Humped Camel: I can only assume that you read my post! As a long.....long....long time CovCath fan/alum, I too can speak of the good, the bad, and the, oh well years.

 

The common link through the years at CovCath, are the coaches, who have been good, honest, fair, and hard working men, who over the years the student could look up to and know that these men were there for them and to help them become better men! Men like Jack Kaelin, Dan Tieman, Mike Listerman, Lynn Ray, Hep Cronin, Dick Maile, Mote Hils, George Schneider, Bill Krumpelbeck, Tom Eckerle, Steve Rasso, Rick Hornsby, and I could go on, were all great men who cared about their players and made them better men! That's what I and many except from the coaches at CovCath. Yes we want to win, but to win at any cost? No, that is not how it has been done.....and will not be done!

 

BTW, to this day I can't call Mr. Tieman, Dan, nor Mr. Kaelin, Jack! I saw Coach Cronin three years ago at a Cracker Barrel in LaGrange, Ky and when I reached out my hand to introduced myself to him, he stunned me by saying Hi (my name). Now remember it had been over 30 years and he still remembered me, and I could say the say thing about Coach Hils. It's men like those four who made me into the man I think I am today and that's what I and others from CovCath want from the coaches today!

Obviously. Who would fire a coach that piles up wins unless he's doing something wrong off the field? Brossart is losing and doing wrong things off the field. When doing both it stirs up talk like this.

I applaud you believing in your team. Keep playing that level of teams and let me know when you get within 2 TDs of one of them. I am not knocking CCH. I am just stating facts. Those schools have twice the number of students as CCH and can pull from a regional base for their students like CCH. Getting within 2 TDs would be an accomplishment itself.

You said the best team ever at CovCath couldn't come close to the bigger schools. Our teams consistently compete with GCL schools. Maybe not the last two years but historically we have. The 05 team played Moeller even until the last quarter when a CCH TD (75 yards or so) was called back. If not, we beat them. Like CCHColonel4life said the 06 team was one of the best of all time and had the St. X cincy team dead even until the last quarter.

Correct on all points. He did not want to do much actual classroom teaching when he was interviewing. CCH said he had to teach a full load. He also wanted more money that was not available.

 

I vote we move on from Coach R discussion unless it deals with how a principal may hire or fire a coach. We can all agree he did a fine job while he was here.

This is absolutely false. I am a former player and friend of many of the CCH football players. I can assure you that an overwhelming majority of parents, students, and alumni think that Dave Brossart is not capable of leading this program to the status it needs to be. In no respect were any people "out to get Brossart," his policies, decisions, actions, and coaching record all speak for themselves. I would say of the 24 seniors on last years team maybe 3 of them supported Coach Brossart. If you cannot command the respect and support of your players and captains, there is zero chance of turning this program into a State Championship contender, year in and year out.

It really doesnt matter who the coach is. Its High School football, the talent on the field will do the talking themselves. The 06 team just had the talent, it didnt matter if Bill Parcells or Buggs Bunny was coaching. The coaches only job is to put the best 22 players on the field and let them play their game. The players need to motivate themselves, and want it themselves. Its getting kind of old hearing about this coaching situation, when in the beginning of the year, CovCath fans were saying Brossart is putting this team in the right direction, and that CovCath could compete with Highlands this year for state.

But do you really think its going to matter who CovCath's coach is? By having a new coach, are they just going to become good all of a sudden?

lol people at the beginning of the season were NEVER saying Brossart was taking the program in the right direction. If you talked to anyone affiliated with the program [parents, players, ex players..] you'd know they felt ANYTHING but that it was moving the right way. Yes, I don't think they are as talented as they have been in past years, but that happens with every school; unfortunately the things that have happened OFF the field with the boys and brossart is the issue.

He is playing a schedule he didnt create (one of the toughest in the state I might add) and losing with a talentless team. Im sorry but this public flogging of Brossart is getting old.

 

When the chips are down they are really down. Sometimes you have to just take your whippings and try to rebuild your program. CovCath will get back to the top. Its not time to panic. Not yet anyway.
