I would say an 8 team playoff would be the best. You could get the best 8 teams in the nation with ease. All the other teams would be in bowl games like they are now.

I say 24 teams and all BCS conference champs get an automatic bid (including non-BCS conferences). That would leave 13 teams with at large bids. Play 16 team tourney with 8 byes to start. 8 week one winners play eight bye teams. Play it out after that. That would keep the integrity of the regular season and provide for the "little guys" to get an opportunity to win it all.

Because of years like this year, when 4 of the top 8-10 teams are from the Big 12. The winners of conferences like the ACC, Big East, and Big Ten shouldn't be given automatic bids....If they were to do a playoff system, it would have to be with now automatic bids.

I would love to see a playoff, but I don't see it happening any time soon. I think the plus one option would be the best way to go.

Honestly I like the current system. I could also go for a plus one game, though.

I understand what you are saying, BUT that will be a problem every year one of the better teams will get left out. It happens all the time in 1-AA and D-2.

 

64 teams would be the only way to solve it. But that would take 10 years to play.
