Candidates for Tennessee head coaching job?

Featured Replies

UT has shown interest in other names that have been bandied about. However, that was prior to the boosters coming up with the buyout money for Fulmer. They want Cowher, if they can get him.

He'll be back in the NFL IMO...

I could not see Mike Leach leaving Texas Tech.

On a completely unrelated note, I thought I heard somewhere that Tommy T. was out at Auburn after this year....Anyone confirm that?

It is possible. They are not happy on the Plains, and if he is jettisoned, I would think Muschamp will be snapped up quick.

I thought I heard that Tech put off a contract extension last year for Leach. This is his final year and he didn't take kindly by the delay from the Tech administration.

I can't see Gruden leaving TB right now... If he coaches any college I think it will be Notre Dame but crazier things have happend!

Gruden was a G.A. at Tenn so there are some old ties there. That is a definate possibility. Cutcliff said he wasn't leaving but who knows if the price is right. Kiffin is a guy I think that is intriguing.

Also don't dismiss the fact that Gruden's wife is a UT grad and her parents still live in the Knoxville area. When the wife is happy, everyone is happy. Thus, I live in TN also.

IMO I can't see Gruden taking the job at UT especially if the Bucs make the playoffs this year. Besides he can't get QB's off the retired list if he is in college (joking). But I can see Gruden making a strong push to UT to hire Lane Kiffin as their next head coach.

Oh my God! Does Spurrier and Donavan still own that land they bought in Kentucky? Billy's wife graduated from UK, didn't she. Give me a break!

Besides, Gruden? Coaching college kids?

BTW, where is Chucky going to find a 35 year old quarterback to recruit?

Sorry, gt, but this is too funny.:lol::lol::lol:

Not on me. Just passing it on...

I see Cowher on top of their list (I don't know if he feels the same way)...with the boosters, Mike Leach is certainly within reach, and he would be a recruiting nightmare, as well as the fans loving the high octane offense.

UT has asked for and been granted permission to speak to Brian Kelly...
