I never said anything about putting the jv kids in before the first half is over. I think the Varsity should play the first half and maybe the first series of the second half depending on the situation in games like this. What I was saying is that they don't need to be throwing the ball with under a minute left in the first half up by 3 touchdowns.

Think about it , would you truly rather they run it? :dancingpa

Beechwood is in the same boat as Highlands. Their enrollment classifies them in a lower district but every year they find the superior athletes and win state championships so it wouldnt hurt them to play up. Highlands has done this and I am waiting for Beechwood to do the same.

Beechwood is a great program but rolling through Class A year in year out is becoming boring IMO. I think they should move up and play 2A or even possibly 3A. Heck Highlands moved up 2 classes and Beechwood already plays a tough enough schedule.

The next couple years they will be playing the likes of some of the top teams in the state.

Anyway, sorry to get off the threadtopic.

Bellevue wins this one in a quagmire.

19-18 as Beechwood goes for 2 on their final score with 43 ticks left and they slip in the backfield. LOL

You really can not be saying they ran up the score in the first half?

If thats the case, and the other teams feel like they are out of the game, sub in your underclassmen. It is always BW to sub first. How fair is it to leave your seniors in the game. They are at times two or three years older than the kids playing in the second half for BW. Why does BW have to put in the JV team so you can feel good about not getting thrown under the bus.

All your tears about BW running up the score is old, truth be told BW isn't really all that good you just have not put in the body of work the BW kids have.

HARD WORK ALWAYS PAYS OFF.

FYI Beechwood IS really that good. I don't know where you came up with that.

I agee with you that perhaps Beechwood should at least move up to 2A. They play a hard schedule as it is now. They seem to have a handle on beating teams in higher classes.

Given how quickly our elementary school is growing, and the plan to build an addition to the school, Beechwood will likely BE 2 A school in the next 5 years or so.

Not looking forward to senior night in the rain. Bad weather can do weird things to football games. I still say Beechwood by a couple of touchdowns.

I hate it when people whine about running up the score. There is very little that needs to be said about Beechwoods classiness. Suggesting that someone should take it easy in the first half makes me want to puke!

BW year in and year out is that good. I have a great deal of respect for the program they have built. For you to say some of the other small schools don't put in the hard work is unacceptable. I can only speak for Bellevue and Dayton but those kids work as hard as any. You need to keep in mind Bellevue and Dayton each draw their kids from approximately one square mile. There are only so many athletes in one square mile. I would venture to say BW demographics is quite a bit larger and may even stretch outside the school district. They get the better athletes. I'm not trying to start the old recruiting issue. I believe parents that can improve their child's chances of getting into college by sending them to a school where they will get more exposure and play better competition should do just that. Also keep in mind BW is also high on the academic list. Hats off to BW but don't say the other kids don't work hard. They do. To go out against the likes of BW and believe you can win says a lot about the hearts of the kids from the other small schools. Bellevue kids believe they can win.

Beechwood started building their program a little over 30 years ago. At the time, we had no tuition students and we also drew (and draw) from a demographic of about a mile radius. Back then, most families were middle class families who were very involved and supportive. The tuition kids started coming AFTER we had a great program built.

I have no doubt that kids at Bellevue and Ludlow work very hard. I think the difference for us has been in coaching. Players cant make it alone. They need very dedicated, talented coaches who are willing to STAY with the program for years. We have been very lucky that way.

Back in the 70's Beechwood had great talent. Fred Mariani, only there a year started things off. Bernie Barre stayed 15 years building the program, Mike Yeagle needs no explanation, and now Noel Rash continues with the great program built up for him.

I don't like it when other small schools find excuses for why Beechwood is good and they cannot be. Any sports program can excell with the right combination of talent and coaching.

Given how quickly our elementary school is growing, and the plan to build an addition to the school, Beechwood will likely BE 2 A school in the next 5 years or so.

My brother goes to Beechwood and they are starting construction on the school here soon and taking atleast half the parking lot away to make the school larger from what i understand.

I am definitely not saying the young men on other teams are not working hard now. I said the body of work. The human body is a reflection of everything that the person has done in the past. Being bigger, faster, and stronger with the ability to execute movement on a football field is not characteristics children are born with. If the Beechwood kids posses these attributes and other teams do not, then they have done something in the past that the other kids have not done. The only exceptions are the small amount of people born with exceptional ability.

As for Beechwood being an exceptional team at this point I would have to say they have their strengths and weaknesses. Their strengths win games; their weaknesses have not cost them games to this point. Beechwood players could be far better athletes, with a few exceptions. The training techniques of young athletes have been dramatically changed in the past few years. No longer is it believed by qualified trainers that you need to run an athlete into the ground to maximize conditioning. It is more about accelerating, decelerating, changing direction and of course energy regeneration as it applies to any given sport. Remember coaches, for the most part, are NOT qualified to trainers.

Ask yourself when does an athlete run a straight line on any given play? The successful training of the young athlete today, and in the future, will not only help them on the football field, but will help them prepare for the tasks they will face in the future. It is no longer a hit or miss proposition when it come to improving an individuals performance. Training programs that are not based on cutting edge methodology and supported by scientific literature are simply outdated. The successful coaches of the future will have a commitment to become better trainers of the human body.

Beechwood is moving “slowly” in this direction.

Please do not forget this is only high school football.

That was second and third teams playing at the times you stated, those boys practice as hard and sacrifise as much as the starters(all teams) how can you tell them not to play the game! By putting them in you are not trying to run the score up!

There is nothing wrong with them being in. But to throw the ball deep...it lacks class no matter how you look at it. Even if it is "Beechwood".

Are you saying the kids in the other NKY class A schools don't work hard?

THANK YOU!!!

Was it truly their 2nd and 3rd teams, I distinctly remember a few years ago, when Bellevue was at Beechwood and the "2nd and 3rd" teams were in. Bellevue's young guys had gotten Beechwood to 3rd and 8 or 9. Instead leaving the "2nd or 3rd" line in, the first team came in against Bellevue's freshman and got the first down......:madman:

All this talk about Beechwood having no class and running up the score really is ridiculous. If you're getting beat 50 and 60-0 with B'wood playing their second and third teamers the WHOLE second half then that's really not their fault. Are they supposed to just kneel on it once they get up so much? Those reserves work just as hard as everyone else and should be allowed to run the same plays they'd run in a close JV/Freshman game. They need work too. If someone doesn't like it, too bad. I hate to sound like a jerk in this situation but let's be real people. Beechwood is one of the classiest programs in not only nky but also the state. Beechwood is primarily a run team so to say they're "running up the score" by working on their pass game, again is ridiculous. Learn to defend them better and you don't have to worry about being blown out of the water.

Not true at all. Genetics play A HUGE part in people who are bigger, stronger and faster. I mean I would bet a lot of money that A LOT of these kids at Ludlow, Bellevue, Dayton. Work just as hard as most of these Beechwood guys. However your genes has a lot to do with how you will turn out. A player who has genes in his family that usually are big and fast, are usually going to be big and fast as well. While kids who might not have those genes in his family, while even though working just as hard. They wouldn't be able to be as big as fast as those guys who do have it in their genes.
