Really? Is that because they can't? Or because they don't want to? And who says it has to be DI to be successful? Is the Bankemper kid from last year playing anywhere? No, but that isn't because he wasn't wanted. I know for a fact that at least two Beechwood players that graduated last season are playing college football, one being a walk on, the other significantly playing at a smaller school. Another is playing baseball somewhere. Those kids could be playing if they chose to...

Future Coach, I have always respected your posts but I feel you are being misleading here. I cant speak for Cov Cath and there numbers, and as I see it, thats a Catholic school, and I dont believe anyone sends there kids there for athletics alone, education, tradition, and it just being a catholic school has alot more to do with it. But as far as Beechwood goes, you make it sound as if all the athletes come from out of district areas. Yes there are a couple and only a couple of kids that the parents have chosen Beechwood over schools in there area, not for athletics but for academics and yes, If I didnt live in the area I would try to find the means to send my kids there as well. I dont believe any of the parents with the exception of a handfull believe thier kids can play at the Div1 level and those that do are probably right! And they all live right here in Fort Mitchell.

No ill will intended towrds you, but that is one of the worst excuses that I have heard yet why teams are not competitive

 

I don't think I made it sound like that at all. Yeah Beechwood would get more out of district than the rest of the other small schools up here like Ludlow, Bellevue and Dayton. However I know most of those people do live in the area. A lot of those people usually move in that area for the sole purpose of their kid playing on the football team. When I said a lot of the talented kids who grow up playing in Ludlow youth system, but then end up at other schools. I really wasn't talking about Beechwood, because usually the schools they would go to is CovCath or Dixie. For Bellevue and Dayton it is NCC and Highlands. My point of it all was referring to Beechwoodfans post about how Beechwood built their program, and saying these schools should do the same thing. So I was just saying with how things are today, it is impossible to do that. It is not like back then, when Beechwood first started building this top notch program. Which I do have great respect for, because they did a great job of it. However when people try to say other schools can do that too, its just not true in todays age now.

I read your previous post, and though I respect your thoughts, I cannot help but disagree with you in some points. Yes, probably it is harder now than it was 30 years ago. However, you can never convince me that talent, heart, hard work and coaching cannot equal a great team, and possibly a future dynasty ANYWHERE. It can happen. Yes, socioeconomic factors are a part of it (I dispute genes, work ethic and opportunities), but overcoming those factors are what champions are made of.

If you go to Beechwood with the hopes of a college scholarship and beyond, you have gone for the wrong reasons. Beechwood boys play football for the opportunity of being a part of something great in the most exciting times of their young lives. If a scholarship follows, that is the icing on the cake.

 

To say that other small schools simply cannot compete is insulting to the kids, coaches and parents who are a part of any small school.

 

Hard work, heart and coaching are all things that take place at these small schools at Ludlow, Bellevue and Dayton, just like at Beechwood. The only thing missing most of the time is the 4th thing you had, which is talent. Now I not saying they don't have talent, but just not as much as kids from Beechwood. Which all goes back to what I said in other post. If you have noticed when these groups in youth football for these schools, stay together and then play high school. Then that is when you see these schools have really good seasons, and play with you all. However at these schools most of the times these kids don't all stay together and end up at different schools. I know for most part in your all's youth system, they usually stick together and go to Beechwood. The same can not be said though about the other schools youth programs. Then add into the fact, that some people will move into district as well. Then that really helps build championship teams like you all have which is great. However you saying that it could be done at these schools is just not realistic now in these days.

 

I mean I would be willing to bet, that say if we switched coaches for 10 years. And no one knew that the Beechwood coaches were now coaching say at Ludlow, so this way no one would just go there just cause of reputation. That it still would not be any different at Ludlow, and the program would still be about the same and would not be a championship program. While also the same could be said about Beechwood and they still would be a championship program. These small schools, also have great coaches right now, and if could build a top program. Then these guys would be able to do it, but as I have discussed, its just not possible right now in todays age or else trust me it would be done.

Some of you are walking a thin line in this thread. We'll get this discussion back on the predictions about the game or some of you will be on the outside looking in. This will be the only warning!

Just that there are social and economical problems on a regular basis in the other schools that Beechwood players don't deal with very often. This is a simply unfortunate fact of life. When is the last time a Beechwood had a kid that wanted to play but just couldn't afford to? When is the last time a player came to practice hungry. When was the last time they had a player that didn't know where he was sleeping that night. I could go on and on with examples of the kinds of things some of these kids go through. Point being these other schools kids have a lot more to overcome on a regular basis than Beechwood kids do. This is not a negative on Beechwood most of their kids are blessed and appreciate such. Great program which I have a lot of respect and admiration for. But don't say that there isn't a huge socio-economical difference.

Haha nice try. Even though Bellevue and Dayton are two teams that I admit that I hate when it comes time to play, because of the rivalry. However it doesn't mean I don't have the up most respect for those schools. So when I see some people saying some things about one of our little river schools even Bellevue or Dayton. I am going to be there for them. :thumb:
