I was referring to the poll at the top of this thread, actually.

 

 

A poll in the State of Kentucky, what a shocker. Obama has as good a shot at winning Kentucky, as McCain does Michigan. Sad, but true.

I thought it was interesting that in one national poll, while 51 to 36 percent had Biden winning, 54 to 36 percent found her more likeable and 84 percent said she exceeded expectations. McCain/Palin have to be happy with that.

I thought it was a push. Palin did an excellent job in getting past the image of her which has developed the past few weeks. I thought Biden did a good job at keeping his temper in check.

 

Neither one gave a lot of specifics, except for just bashing the head of the other one's ticket. Palin did a better job at telling what she has actually done than Biden did, and he has years of experience. However, she is still in the learning curve and doesn't have the same grasp on some of the issues that Biden has. Biden did a better job at showing a full grasp of the issues, but I think he is dead wrong on certain issues and it has to be hard for him to defend some of the positions the head of his ticket has taken which he has publicly disagreed with in the past. They both stretched the truth a little bit, but Biden seemed to be more inaccurate on McCain's voting record.

 

I think we keep hearing about Change from both candidates, first from Obama now from McCain. But the only person on this ticket who really seems like a true 'change' is Palin. I think she needs more seasoning, but I like her approach.

 

Republicans blame Democrats and the Democrats blame the Republicans for everything and noone is taking responsibility for anything. This most recent mess wasn't just greed, it wasn't just the past 2 administrations and it wasn't just the congress. It was all of the above. Yet none of them are taking responsibility. They both talk about warning about the impending doom to come, but even the bill McCain signed off on and approved was never passed, so technically, they still got nothing done.

 

The idea of giving the White House to Obama with a Democratic congress is frightening. Not a fan, but Bill Clinton at least did work with Republicans to get things done and for the most part, it worked. I could never trust my children's future to the likes of Pelosi, Franks, Reed, with a free pass on anything they wanted to do from an Obama White House. And for all the associations that Obama and McCain are accused of having in the press, the one that frightens me as much as any is ACORN. The fact that they could have found their way into the first bill to the tune of nearly $500,000,000 (which did not pass, thank God and they get nothing with the bill that did pass), scares me to death. We have let a corrupt organization get a sniff at our tax dollars and that is so wrong that I cannot express my disappointment enough.

 

I truly believe that McCain would be a better leader and bring Palin along quickly. I also think he can reach across the aisle, as he has done for most of his time in Washington. Plus, with Obama requesting so much pork over the years (more over the past 3 years than McCain and Biden combined), and only stopping it when he decided to run for president, I cannot trust him to make the necessary cuts and get our government spending under control. He still hasn't said what he would cut from his billions in new spending, and the only way he can implement his programs, is with more taxes or a bigger deficit. I don't like either option. I also have seen many democrats sing McCain's praises over the years, and have seen hardly any republicans singing Obama's praises. Granted, it almost all stopped when they became their parties nominees, but it seems obvious that McCain can do more to work with Dems than Obama to work with Reps. And if they can't reach across the aisle, they will never get anything done.

 

The bottom line is that I believe McCain is the best alternative between the 2 candidates. This debate did nothing to change my mind, as I am sure those who support Obama saw nothing to change their mind. But to say that either one 'won hands down' is just plain partisanship and looking at the other candidate only for what they did or said wrong.

 

I do agree that the moderator, while not seeming biased, did not keep them on track with the answers and let them both get in jabs unrelated to the topic of the moment. But I guess when you only have a few minutes per topic, they had to get them in while they had the chance.

And to answer your question: Six months ago, Biden was wanting to beat him and all of Obama's competition was saying that. What's happend in the time between that? Biden stoped running for President.

Oh come on!! It wasn't only Biden who was using that "one" excuse "experience" it was everyone and McCain is still using it because he's the last one standing.

 

 

Obama might not be good for you, but that's why we vote. Personally, I feel that I will be better of with Obama as President. I am not upper class, I use to say middle, but in my opinion there is no longer a middle class. Main St. is what Obama calls it. Should I have to file bankruptcy because I had to have some medical procedures done? No, I don't believe I shoud, nor should anyone else. Guess what though, it's happening everyday in this Country. And don't even try and tell me it's nothing new. If McCain is elected and you are well off, then maybe you will be ok, maybe. What I like about Obama is he is for all of America, not just the wealthy. McCain has never once spoked to me when addressing anything. All I know of him is he's a Vet, POW, likes to call himself a mavrick, owns seven or eight houses and apparently likes war. I often wonder why he hasn't ran for President until now? So, when anyone want's to ask, what's so good about Obama? When I hear him, I feel he's talking to folks like myself. When McCain speaks, he only talks about himself.

I just saw a national poll that had Palin winning 78% to 20% for Biden with 2% uncertain.

I watched a bit of the debate again and read through the transcript, and I remain utterly and hopelessly unimpressed with Palin. There was hardly a difference between her debate performance and the Couric interview. What was the difference, everyone thought she did well? Instead of muddling through answers and pretending like she had any relevant knowledge as she did with Couric, when Palin was faced with a question she didn't know or could speak intelligently about (and there were embarrassingly plenty) she immediately answered a question that wasn't asked, but one she had an answer for. Exceeds expectations? Yes. Has the knowledge or understanding I expect of someone on a national ticket? No. In other words, her debate performance affirms her vacuous interviews with Gibson and Couric - she's clueless.
