Palin went from SNL laughingstock to respectable in debate, but she didn't win.

Plain and simple, Sarah Palin won this debate. She made Joe look like he was nervous, always back on his heels and disoriented. He came off looking snide and condescending at times and at other times, just a little bumbling. My favorite Bidenism was when he called the people of Bosnia, "Bosniacs." :lol:

 

Sarah Palin accomplished the one thing she had to do. That was to erase the notion that she's not a viable candidate for the vice-presidency. She did so convincingly. Palin was able to get away from the media-edited interviews and speak directly to the American people on a personal level.

 

Expectations were so low for Sarah Palin, all she had to do was not fail and not fall apart. She just had to hold her own. She not only did that; but it could be argued that she bested Joe Biden in this debate.

I agree with you. I'll have to look at the transcript tomorrow, though. I didn't take notes tonight, but I remember him doing it a few times. But, he was usually very deliberate about answering the question.

I thought Biden was at his best when he was answering the questions with regard to foreign policy, and in what his role would be as vice-president. I felt Palin did a bang-up job on her closing. She is a very accomplished public speaker, and her prepared comments went very well.

I wouldn't say she won the debate, but she definitely exceeded expectations. As I said, I have a hard time saying either won.

Then you don't want Obama. According to his running mate Obama's not ready to be president.

That I can agree with...

I think that depends on where you fall on the issues. If you tend to agree more with the McCain/Palin stance, no way Biden was better. If you tend to align more with Obama/Biden, than I agree Biden would be seen as better.

 

I disagree with Biden on a lot of things, but even if I disagree with him I think he made strong points. I actually agreed more with Palin tonight, but I didn't think she did a good job of backing up the "headline" part of her answer or conveyed a firm understanding.

I dont see how you can think anyone really WON this debate. I agree her expectations were low and she did better than most, including myself thought, but I dont think she bested Biden.

No, she won...because she won. In other words, had she simple exceeded expectations, it would have been a good night for her. But I believe she went far beyond that point tonight.

He was referring to Bosnian Muslims, which are, in fact, called Bosniaks.

If you watched this debate from start to finish and feel like there was a clear cut winner, then you are just offering up a partisan response for the candidate you are backing.

 

Like a Republican on here is going to admit that Biden won or a Democrat admit Palin won. Who are we kidding here?

I can agree that she doesn't do as well a job at getting her point across, but I don't care one bit about delivery. I care about the ideas, and the substance.

 

Yeah, that's my point. When she had substance she delivered great answers, when she didn't she fumbled around and reverted to questions she could answer. I thought it was weak.

I think she did, because I feel that she made a better connection with the people. For Joe, winning would have meant making Sarah look really bad. For Sarah, winning meant making herself look capable of holding the office in question. I think she accomplished that.
