You must be from Northern Kentucky. Louisville St X is the KING in Louisville. Trinity is never rated as No 1 in the Litkenhouse ratings. I think they were No. 4 as of yesterday. Louisville St. X is, of course, No 1.

 

You have got to be kidding! Trinity is the KING in Louisville! 18 titles to X’s 11. Six titles in the last seven years with three of them against St. X. Lit ratings are a fraud and a joke!! Play it on the field... GO ROCKS! #19.

My point is you have to have the numbers to win on a big school level.. When you have twice as many boys as most of the teams you are competing against this is huge. You can have discipline,pride,coaching etc. but if you don't have the numbers this isn't going to mean a hill of beans.. Highlands has everything except for the numbers and that is why they get beat more often than not by the big Cincy schools..

Oh boy, here we go again.

 

When Cincinnati St. X came out on the field at Papa John's the other night, it's the first time in my memory (and I'm in my mid-50s) that I can ever remember an opponent of T or Lou X coming out that had bigger players and a larger number of players than the local team. And Trinity effectively controlled the game and won with a strong effort. So I don't think "numbers" can be the reason. I think it's called teamwork, heart and efficiency. Or, as the decal on the Trinity helmet states, Discipline, Pride, Loyalty and Achievement.

I'll speak for Trinity. I think there are three factors. The first is coaching. I really believe that Trinity has the best staff in Kentucky. Second is feeder schools. The Catholic schools in Kentucky play on high quality teams with good coaches from a young age. That enables the Trinity coaches to start teaching kids at a higher level than coaches that are forced to teach kids things that a lot of the Trinity kids learned in grade school.

This is the same successful model you will find at Highlands. Trinity just executes it on a much grander scale because of their student population. Given that same pool of players, I'm sure Highlands would match up as well (or better ) with Ohio's DI schools. But this is only because the other elements are in place here. It's not just about size.

In that regard, Trinity and Highlands are on exactly the same level.

Bob Beatty is a big reason and Coverdale in my opinion is the biggest reason Trinity dominates right now. Unless they are playing a national power Trinity averages around 40 points and no one can score that many on them.

We think the Rock's have a pretty stout and acclaimed Defensive Staff as well. Let's not forget about them. All rolled together into one cohesive unit.

It will be in large part due to the fact that they are matched closely, size wise.

 

No doubt that there are other factors. A continued winning tradition is one of them. But, they can't say they are the only team(s) in KY with tradition, numbers, pride, coaching, athletes, work ethic...etc.

 

I'm not aware of any Trinity partisan that has ever declared their team to be the only school w/ these traits, only that they do possess them. Many teams do, I'm sure, but few have enjoyed the same level of success as the Rocks.

 

And while I agree that if Trinity played in Ohio they more than likely wouldn't have 18 trophies in the case, I do feel that they would have won their share. Congrats on the big win, Rocks!!!:thumb:

Of course you can never dismiss the size factor. I was simply taking issue w/ your wording in that people are claiming that Trinity & Trinity alone possesses the work ethic, tradition, & coaching necessary to win championships. While Trinity most certainly does possess these traits so do St. X, Highlands, Danville, Beechwood, etc. (just to name a few)

 

Ohio h.s. football is awesome but like any entity that has enjoyed some success they have their fair share of obnoxious fans. I'm very happy that my team from little 'ole KY was able to serve up a little humble pie! :
