I seem to remember a 42-0 (or close to that) butt whipping that Dixie put on HHS in the 70's. But that is classified as "ancient history"! Twin RB's just kicked our tail feathers!!

I have a really bad feeling about this game (and its not caused by the breakfast Henry cooked me because she didn't cook me any breakfast at all)!

 

I KNOW that Dixie has some very, very talented athletes on its team; I know that a whole lot of people are predicting a Highlands blow out and taking Dixie lightly; I know that we have a lot of young players starting for us and with CovCath next week, I'm afraid that they are looking past Dixie and might not be properly focuses as young players are wont to do; I believe Dixie's near upset of CovCath last week has the Dixie kids feeling they can win and has given them confidence; and I believe that if there is one team that Spritzky wants to beat, its Highlands. All those things add up to one huge upset if Highlands doesn't execute very well starting with the opening kickoff.

That is a ridiculous statement. Didn't by winning the game they proved they were a better team?? Actually, Highlands probably made it closer than it should have been. The only NKY Dixie lost to that year was Boone, and was very good, but ran into Brian Brohm and Trinity in the second round of the playoffs. To say what you said is simply ridiculous.

In your opinion, when was the last time Highlands has lost a game due to looking past their opponent? I've gone back the last 3 or 4 years and can't really think of one. Maybe prior to that?

I love how Tom, an HHS grad, gets no love and respect yet Steve Lickert is praised for what he is doing at Holmes. Tom has brought this program back to respectability and should be commended for what he has done. With that being said, I think the Colonels are even younger and more inexperienced than the Birds and look for Highlands to win this game quite comfortably even with the CovCath game on the horizon.

That's because Tom has in the past gone public about some of Dale's on field coaching that he doesn't approve of. On the other hand, Steve won't do it, Not in Public. It's not Steve's style and please remember that one of Steve's ultimate goals someday is to coach at Highlands. Steve figures he will sit back and take his beatings for a couple years and maybe sneak up on Highlands and start beating them once or twice in the future. When that happens, Steve's coaching Stock goes through the roof.

Please elaborate on that a little. I know for a fact that Tom is not the only one outspoken about some things that Highlands does on the field. Isn't that one of the reasons that Highlands is scheduled to play Ryle twice next year? For the record, Steve Lickert will not be the next coach at Highlands as long as Brian Weinrich is around. I am sure that Tom might have liked to coach at his alma mater as well, but sometimes that is how things go. Good luck to both teams tonight as it appears that it will be perfect football weather.

Highlands fielded one of their better teams last year, and I don't recall anyone complaining about how the games played out. So I ask you, why won't those big 6A schools schedule HHS?

Spritzky(sp) will never have the kind of program he could and should have until he starts doing things every other team in KY does. Like two a days, spring football and still having practice when the power is out.

Nope. All 3 of those school dropped Highlands. Had nothing to do with one OH game a year. HHS had to add teams like LexCath, Madison Central, Louisville Central, Hopkinsville, and Pulaski Southwestern to complete a 10 game schedule.
