Old Rambler, you need to quit staying up until the wee hours on this site. You get cantankerous and mean to us poor Russell fans.

I don't think our boys need any more help getting up for this or any other game. They are also very focused. I really don't think any of them read these and take them seriously. I would hope they don't read them at all

Someone mentioned that we needed to have an answer to Carter. I agree. But, what is the Ashland answer to Bailey and Abrams. Also, as Drew Abrams has said in the DI, the line has been blocking great.

Best of luck to all this weekend.

GO DEVILS:devil:

I don't think that I need instructions on when I go to bed or what times I post on here .

As for being rough on Russell fans ............ there are a few that continue to "put it up on a tee" with some of their comments that we just can't help it, is way too easy.

As for the kids reading these boards, i can agre to some point that maybe they shouldn't but whether or not the coaches or anyone else tell them not to I can promise you that they do. That's really not the point though and I wasn't the one that brought up the kids reading the post for more motivation, a Russell fan did that :D.

Like I said, some are just too easy and I am just having some fun. :thumb:.

Im going to go with the Tomcats in this one. Their defense has looked tough all season and I think they can stop the Russell running attack and pull out a win.

Touché...and, BINGO!

Painter, you attempt to compare Russell's allowance of points with Ashlands, stating there is but one point differnce. Have you looked into when most of those points allowed by Russell were made? Many of our sophomores and Freshmen have had playing time against our opponents varsity players. For example, the game against West Carter, they scored their sole touchdown late in the game against our much younger kids. As I recall most of our younger kids played against Greenup's varsity. I don't think the scoring against Ashland was against your younger kids. So, if you want to make true comparisons, please compare the same things.

As for Sweet Old Rambler, I always enjoy your great retorts and quick wit.

Let's get back to the topic and stop the spitting contest. Next post to the contrary will land someone on the outside looking in. This will be the only warning!

I like the physical attitude of the Tomcat defense and I think we see the offense get things rolling in this one. I'll take Ashland with the W.

If this indeed turns into ground game vs. ground game, I'll take Russell by 2 TDs.

If Ashland hopes to to be in this in the second half, they will need to find a more efficient way to make substitutions and to get special team players on the field without burning timeouts. It appeared as if they have had much trouble in this area and it looked as if the players that are on these packages and special teams have to be found by the coaches to be put in the game. What happened to the days when players were tugging on coaches shirt tails chomping at the bit to get in the game?

All Ashland has to do is the short pass 5 to 10 yards. and Russell can not stop it.

I agree totally, in order to do that a QB must be able to keep his eyes down field and feel when it is time to tuck and run or throw it away.

If this indeed turns into ground game vs. ground game, I'll take Russell by 2 TDs.

How's Ashland been this year at making key plays when they need them? For example picking up on 3rd and longs and on 4th down conversions. IF Ashland can make key plays and keep their defense off the field they will have a chance. If they have to punt 5 times in the first half they will most likely be looking at a 28+ point deficit.

If Russel scores 28 in the first half, Ashland won't have five possessions. I believe 3rd and long for Ashland is a major problem unless they begin to use option, screens and draws in those situations. Ashland does not seem to have many minus yardage plays except when in obvious passing situations.

Can Russell loose this game to Ashland? Absolutely!!! I believe that Ashland's players will be up for this game just like the Russell players will. Anyone who makes the statement "we will win" or words to that effect need to look back at just how close these two have battled over the past ten years. Even last year when Ashland had a below average team they still competed with Russell to the end. I think Ashland may see some things that they don't normally see in a Russell team. Three running backs that can break it all the way on any given play. Then just when you think you have the run stopped Russell goes to the air. Cordell does not throw the ball much, but when he does he is accurate and has a good touch. Based on this I think Russell will be able to hold thier own against the Mighty Tomcats. I understand that Ashland has Carter and they have home field advantage and they are a 5-A team and Russell is only a 3-A team! Good luck to both teams.

Speed will win this game. The advantage goes to Ashland. Russell has not played anybody yet. Ashland has played some good teams in there first three games. Plus it is in Ashland this year. Russell had there hands full with Boyd Co. too.

I would agree with you that Ashland has the fastest one player on the field. I'm not so sure that man for man that Ashland will have an advantage in that area unless thay had a lot of transfers in from last years team. They may although. I'm sure you would not have made that statement without watching both teams play. Don't underestimate Boyd County. When Ashland plays Boyd County, BC will have the Best player on the field. I can assure you of that. I have seen both teams play.
