Mr Football candidates & updates

How about Bell Co.'s Spencer Greer, of course I'm a little biased, and would love to see a southern KY kid get it, but his numbers are impressive through 2 games

304 yards

34 attempts (8.9 ypc)

5 TD's rushing

Those stats are compiled through just two games, not sure on how the receiving stats are looking, but he's off to a nice start.

Those are good numbers but a lot of kids in the mountains can match that or surpass that and Bell County isn't playing a tough schedule which will downplay his acheivements. Winning Mr. Football isn't being just above average, it is being a class by themselves, not too mention you really have to have a super great Junior year to be considered for Mr. Football by the media.

Question? I know that Josh Conner was in the running for Mr. Football does his injury totally takes him out of the running?

Newooo! (how do you do sacrcasm on here?)

You forgot about Chase Richardson of Johnson Central, he has had some dominate numbers as well as Nathan Dillon. Both playmakers on the Offensive and Defensive side of the ball. Let me find their stats and I will post them.

Who are the 2 OSU commitments???? Will they be in the Mr Football discussion?

Are you serious?

Bowling had another fine night, I believe 4 TD's and almost 400 yards.

If this kid heals and is able to get back out there for the second half of the season, he may put up more numbers in half a season the some of these guys will in an entire season! Conner was walking with an air-cast on last night at the Routing of Holmes 70-6. Think of how bad it could have been with him in the lineup....

IMO, Conner, if able to come back, will run the gamut in the second half of the season and the deciders that be must consider this when deciding on the real MR FOOTBALL. But don't forget about Tony Guidugli. He could end up being a candidate as well.

I have serious question about this and it is no knock on this young man. What is the level of competition this team is playing? Again, no knock. I use him as an example because the numbers are outstanding.

The RB from Boone Co should get some hype!

If your thinking of Cory Farris, He is now at UK focuses strictly on baseball.

They play in maybe the toughest 5A district and have a solid non-district schedule, usually have a team from NKY in their bowl game. Corbin is also thrown into this. They aren't playing cupcakes. He is putting these numbers up on excellent quality teams.

I think he's referring to Quainoo but I believe he's a Jr as well.

I'll answer the 1st question myself...

Defensive back, Justin Green, who plays at Male.

LB, Jordan Whiting, who plays at Trinity. BTW, just from the shoulders up pic of Whiting on rivals, he looks like a TANK!

Ryan Williams for GRC. Going into last night game he is the top rusher in the state with 474 yards. He continued his impressive effort on the ground, against Tates Creek, going over the 200-yard plateau for the third time this year.

Williams finished with 237 yards on 25 carries and four touchdowns, in the Tates Creek game.

I think Ryan Williams is an amazing player. I don't think he will get Mr. Football just because he isn't from Lexington or Louisville and from everything i have been told by his teammates he hasn't gotten any big offers. But what he has done in the first 3 games is pure amazing. I want to wish him the best of luck the rest of the season.

Ricky Bowling with 13 TDs, 1 INT, over 1,110 yards as well as 1 rushing TD in 3 games. He is off to a great start. Now only 24 TDs away from the state TD record held by Tim Couch.

I have seen him play for the past 4 years and he looks in midseason form right now. He is going thru his reads and progressions and his ball fakes have improved as well.
