I dont think Bowling should win it for the pure fact of South Laurels record as a whole. For somebody to win Mr. Football you have to take over a game. Someone that wins Mr. Football should have there team winning at least.

Scott Russell from Evarts HS won Mr. Football with a 7-4 record in 1991. In fact only 4 players have won a state championship, and Mr. Football since 1990.

What about Deuce Finch from St. X? I know he was regarded as one of the best backs in the state last year, and he had a lot of hype around him in the state championship game. Also, he is the star back for one of the 25 teams in the nation.

How has his season gone?

By all means, no one in KY comes close to Deuce. You can talk about all the updates you want, but Deuce by far should win..

Ricky Bowling out of South Laurel HS has completed 133/178 passes for 74.7%, 2,073 yards passing, 25 TD passes and 1 INT in 6 games this season.

Why doesn't South Laurel post thier stats with the KHSAA?

Duece has been hampered by a knee injury...he broke out against Trinity with 150 plus yards and a TD. Technically though he may still be running second team behind Jeremiah Neal. I will say that out of Louisville the big three of Green, Finch and Phillips have not piled up the stats like many thought they would. Green is now down with an injury. Phillips was bottled up against Lou and Cincy X, but that's probably more a function of great defense and a banged up Rocks O-line.

It looks as though South Laurel's offensive stats are up to date. Are you referring to defensive stats?

For some reason, Bowling's stats don't show up on the overall state stats or his career to date thru last season.

Bowlings YTD stats after 6 games

133/178 (74.7%)

2,073 yards (15.5 yards per completion, 11.65 yards per attempt, 345.5 yards per game)

25 TDs

1 INT

24 rushes for 136 yards & 2 TDs

(5.67 yards per rush which includes any lost yardage due to sacks)

This projects to a potential season of 11 games:

3,800 yards passing

244/326

45+ TDs

2 Ints

&

44 rushes 249 yards rushing 4 TDs

Here is the most interesting info I saw on his numbers from this year that was impressive.

7 different receivers have caught TD passes from Bowling this season

9 different receivers have over 100 yards receiving for South Laurel

4 different receivers have caught multiple TDs from Bowling this season

6 different receivers have double digits in receptions

He is really spreading the ball around.

Oh I'm sorry guys I forgot that 7 and 4 was a losing record my apologizes.

Ryan Williams anybody? I know he got hurt and missed about the whole Henry Clay game. But I'm sure he is still on top or close to it as far as yards and tds. And his team is 5-2 after going something like 3-9 last year and losing atleast 15-20 or more seniors. Without him, GRC might not have won more than 1 game so far.
