September 9, 200818 yr Last night, we received a call from people that are closest to Vince informing us that he had left his house in a state of mind that had them concerned; and that he was unreachable, having left his cell phone at the house. From the Titans official press release:http://www.titansonline.com/news/newsmain_detail.php?PRKey=6034 Good grief. Amazing what media will run with these days. Maybe he went to a friend's house to lament over finally receiving his Wunderlick scores.
September 9, 200818 yr On the other hand, Vince has never struck me as stable. It's strange they would put that on the team site, though.
September 9, 200818 yr He came out this past offseason and said he almost retired after his first season. I would not be surprised at all if he never came back from this injury.
September 9, 200818 yr He came out this past offseason and said he almost retired after his first season. I would not be surprised at all if he never came back from this injury. That is exactly what I was going to say.
September 9, 200818 yr Author So, he gets injured, possibly faces missing an entire season depending on an MRI result, mind you a season that he's spent 8 months preparing for, and now he's mentally unstable because he goes to a friends house without his cell phone? Okay.

Okay. I'm not saying he is or he isn't, but you have to look at the big picture here. I don't think he's ever had his head screwed on straight.

Okay. Sounds nuts to me. Seriously, I bet there's more. If that's all we have to go on though, no story.
September 9, 200818 yr Author I'm not saying he is or he isn't, but you have to look at the big picture here. I don't think he's ever had his head screwed on straight. But don't you think that perhaps it's a bit of overstatement to stream that they are "worried about his mental state" without talking to the man?
September 9, 200818 yr When I heard the story yesterday that he didn't want to go back into the game after his rough start against the Jaguars, I was taken by surprise. Then I remembered the retirement story and that people were questioning his toughness even coming out of college. Who knows how it will all play out, I think he is a great talent with a lot of potential and would love to see him come back from the injury. I think the story is that Fisher had to "talk him into" getting back on the field, just very odd.
September 9, 200818 yr But don't you think that perhaps it's a bit of overstatement to stream that they are "worried about his mental state" without talking to the man? Yeah,, it totally is. It seems like there is more to the story though.
September 9, 200818 yr I've got to be honest, why would anyone question his toughness? We watched him put a team on his back and say in an 11 on 11 game, "I'm going to will us to the National Title against the latest/greatest team of all time." Now he's facing a serious injury after a bad year in which the franchise said, "We will sink or swim with you in your second year." Question how it is bothering him? Okay. Question how he said he wanted to reitre? Sure, who hasn't. But question his toughness? I still don't see all the evidence of that one. If he is having mental health issues and needs counseling, cut him some slack. Most stars from Texas would have self-medicated by now.
September 9, 200818 yr What's in the water down in Austin? Just like Ricky, he's doesn't seem to have the heart for football.
September 9, 200818 yr The Titans organization obviously knows more about this situation than we do & if they feel they need to call their star QB because he went on a drive, then there has to more to the story other than "he was just visiting a friend." Or not.. Edited September 9, 200818 yr by ScarHeel
