For the Titans to have called the police so quickly, it makes you wonder if there have been other incidents that would cause them to question his state of mind.

A good point was brought up this morning on Mike and Mike. You look at Leinart, Bush, and Young. All three of these guys never really faced true adversity on the football field in college. Sure there were moments when their team was down, but in all they were a big fish in a small pond surrounded by other elite athletes. That is all thrown out the window in the NFL. How a lot of these athletes adjust to the pro lifestyle is just as big of a transition as the overall game itself being played.

Young simply doesn't have the mindset, immaturity, or even mental stability to be an NFL quarterback. Oh yeah, he can't throw the ball very well, either.

He was very close to retiring last year... he has a lot of emotional problems right now.. he is human like the rest of us.

I have been a Vince supporter from the beginning. That being said, the boos on Sunday were not a big deal at all and they should not have put him over the edge. His mom's "baby boy" comments were ridiculous as well, IMO. I'm really starting to believe that he has a mental illness, such as being bipolar. Something is going on with him and Jeff Fisher is not one to overreact. If he called the police, then he truly feared for Vince's well-being. I just hope Vince can get the help he obviously needs.

If Vince Young walks away this quickly, it will only cement the error the Titans made in picking Young, and the fans will take a very long time to forgive them for not taking the hometown boy Cutler.

 

Cutler had zero chance of being drafted that high. In hindsight, they should have taken Cutler though.

According to ESPN radio, they signed Simms to backup Collins and Vince was at practice yesterday.

From what I understand the friends / family did not call the police. They contacted team officials and it was the Titans who called the police regarding the situation.

No, seriously, I must have misunderstood the first report I read. I thought it said that the family contacted the police and the team and the team also contacted the police.

 

Either way, it's bizarre. As a Titans fan and a guy who hoped Vince would improve this season, this definitely isn't good news.

 

The problem, as I see it, is this...the team has progressed everywhere except the QB position. Vince sparked them as a rookie to an 8-8 season and he got a lot of the credit for it...most of it deserved, because I think he ignited the team and gave them the confidence they needed. In Year 2, he regressed, but the rest of the team continued to improve. As the QB, Vince still got the credit for leading them to the playoffs.

 

But, now it's year 3...the rest of the world now realizes that the Titans have a very talented roster. They have a great offensive line, a top notch ground game and a Super Bowl caliber defense. What's missing? A passing game and solid QB play. Now that everyone knows how good the rest of this team is, VY doesn't get a free pass any longer. With good QB play, the Titans are good enough to challenge for a Super Bowl. Those opportunities don't come along every year and there's no guarantee how long the window will be open. You have to capitalize when it's there.

 

Young is at a crossroads. The Titans are no longer building around him. They are built. It's year three, and fair or not, it's time to deliver. So, he can either pull it together and try to lead this team...or he can take his ball and go home. The Titans are in good shape either way.
