All I remember is saying we need to be energy independent from the bad guys (Dems said the same thing). I remember something about offshore drilling (Dems are iffy on that but OK with "conditions.) I remember "on the first day we'll start the process....." OK. How? How much will it cost? How soon? Did I miss those details?

This point made by Rudy was absolutely the most compelling to people who are still considering Obama. That's going to be a tough one to overcome or justify. I'd be curious to know the general level of the bills that he voted "present" on - how major vs how minor. I'd also be curious to see how that compares to Sen. McCain. Again, the MOST damaging point made last night in the minds of the people that still matter/are in play.

I was thinking the author did a great job writing the speech, but wondered how well that author could deliver the speech given the circumstances. I envisioned a somewhat introverted person sitting at a computer, and exclaiming YES! every time a key point was driven home by the speaker.

I don't know for a fact, but the speech had a very different style than the others and is consistent with what I've seen of her before. Of course, I'm also sure speechwriters added in several canned lines, especially the attacks. In fact, if you watch the DNC and the RNC you will see the same lines said over and over and over, verbatim, by each speaker. Those lines give a good indication of what message the parties want to send. Anyhow, it is my opinion she wrote it, but it was certainly poured over by the staff speechwriters to smooth out any edges and make it fit into the overall strategy.

September 4, 200818 yr Obama and Lugar co-sponsored a bill to help keep nuclear weapons out of the bad guys' hands. Obama helped create the bill that allows for a searchable database showing who got fedeal contracts and grants. Note that this bill also was sponsored by Sen. McCain. He also co-sponsored a bill that prevents the Dept of Homeland Security to not offer no-bid contracts. I don't see anything that Obama has taken the lead on here...except his two books.
