August 22, 200818 yr expansion to Commonwealth Stadium. I would say a very vigorous undertaking considering today's financial climate. The new arena has been kicked around and I would assume would be a part of the reconstruction of the downtown Lexington area. With today's news of bringing IMG into the fray of planning and so forth, puts the whole she-bang in motion. Plus all would be privately financed. http://www.kentucky.com/181/story/497217.html
August 22, 200818 yr I like the idea. I wonder if this will be a three-at-once development, or if they will do basketball then baseball then football. Either way, the facilities should look great in about ten years. I'm stoked about a replacement for Rupp Arena. The upper deck there is terrible; too steep and the benches are terribly uncomfortable. I would hope the new one is an all-chair back deal.
August 22, 200818 yr Author If all goes through, I hope they set it no higher than 23 to 24k, UK misses out on a lot of perks that UL has in Freedom Hall with the suites and such.
August 22, 200818 yr Guess the thought of Louisville having a newer arena was too much to bear ... Stir, Stir, Stir the pot gently down the street.......Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily I am going to sleep.

August 22, 200818 yr Cant see anything wrong with this. I mean the taxpayers money is not being used so they should be happy. Wounder how big the next basketball "complex" will be?

August 22, 200818 yr Guess the thought of Louisville having a newer arena was too much to bear ... And your point is? Won't UL use the new arena as a selling point for recruiting? If UK has the ability to build new facilities and have the ability to do the same why shouldn't they? UK has a huge fanbase and will no doubt be able to sell out any luxury boxes that they build. If they can do that and increase their revenue should they pass just because UL has a new arena? Tell me why they shouldn't take advantage of this opportunity, I'm very curious.
August 22, 200818 yr Wow.. the jealousy sure pops up quick. UofL fans should be happy about this for the same reason UK's fans are happy about UofL's new arena. The possibility of more close to home NCAA Tourney games.
August 22, 200818 yr Wonder how this will effect season ticket holders??? We have season tickets..so I am concerned about this too. Wow.. the jealousy sure pops up quick. UofL fans should be happy about this for the same reason UK's fans are happy about UofL's new arena. The possibility of more close to home NCAA Tourney games. :thumb::thumb:
