Text message to reveal Obama's VP nod

Featured Replies

In a history-making U.S. presidential campaign, presumptive Democratic Party nominee Barack Obama is set to mark another first — he will be the first presidential candidate to reveal his running mate through text-messaging.

Obama has all but settled on his choice for vice-president, the New York Times cited aides as saying Tuesday, and he will disclose his decision in the coming days, possibly as early as Wednesday.

But instead of breaking the news at a media conference or at the Democratic Party's convention, due to begin Monday, he will instead notify supporters through a text message first, Obama's campaign manager said in an e-mail last week.

I got this email a few weeks ago. What is wrong with him doing this, to notify his supporters.

In contrast, McCain is going to stick with the tried and true forms of communication that worked when he was a kid. I hear he'll be hanging a lamp in the belfry arch. One if Jindal, and two if Romney.

It's LAME!

I completely missed the humor in this post until it was pointed out. Good one.

Ditto. I feel real old now.

As if lame weren't wholly subjective to begin with, it isn't a bad idea. He'll get a solid return on investment through publicity and site registrations.

I do not have a problem with it. His selection might help me decide on who I want to vote for. I have changed my mind and am no longer leaning in either direction at this point. I'm considering voting for "none of the above".

You guys who think it is lame are not thinking.

I read an article that talked about all the new cell phone numbers he has picked up for his fundraising list by those who have signed up to receive the text.

It is a very savvy marketing move.

Great idea, Obama. Get thousands of gullible kids to put themselves on your spam list in exchange for learning who your running mate is a few seconds sooner than the rest of us. Brilliant! :thumb:

I agree.
