Barack Obama says he's decided on a running mate, but he won't say who.

 

"I've made the selection, that's all you're gonna get," Obama said told reporters while campaigning in Virginia Thursday.

 

Obama didn't say whether he's informed his pick yet.

 

Obama is planning to announce his choice in a text message to supporters sometime before Saturday afternoon, when he's scheduled to appear with his pick in Illinois.

 

Asked by an Associated Press reporter when the text would be sent, Obama just grinned and said, "Wouldn't you like to know?":sssh:

The way I see it, it's childish for people to be bothered by a little bit of joking around. I've noticed a lot more thin skinned people these days.

 

The way I see it, revealing Obama's running mate through text messaging is no where near as childish as some of the names people have been calling Obama. I have never said it bothers me, I just think it's silly and something 2nd graders would do.

I think that it is all about what people envision text messaging to be. Some only see it as a "young" thing to do, not an important communication device. As an adult, I receive text messages from my colleagues and my boss. Technology changes, whether we like it or not. I have heard people talk about how ridiculous message boards are, too, but I don't plan on giving up BGP just because others think that it is childish to communicate with people that I have never met via the internet.

Well said. In addition, it's a new campaign tactic we haven't seen before and it's a pretty darned good idea, especially considering the demographic Obama is most in need of going to the polls. It will be interesting to see how effective this is and whether we'll see this in future campaigns.
