August 19, 200818 yr We live in a day of instant communication. There is absolutely ZERO wrong with this. It's not just geared to kids. Most of the professional adults I know use their cell phones as a technology and communication tool. A 60 yro colleague of mine communicates with me via texting all summer long. Many of us have our phones set up to give us sports scores, weather and news updates, amongst others. My question is, if it were McCain instead of Obama, would you still be bemoaning the idea? Methinks not.
August 19, 200818 yr Great idea, Obama. Get thousands of gullible kids to put themselves on your spam list in exchange for learning who your running mate is a few seconds sooner than the rest of us. Brilliant! :thumb: Not just kids use texting... This is a great idea...
August 19, 200818 yr My question is, if it were McCain instead of Obama, would you still be bemoaning the idea? Methinks not. McCain doesn't have a cellphone.
August 19, 200818 yr You think this same list is not going to continue to get texts beyond this one. A little pep message the night before the election.
August 19, 200818 yr Not just kids use texting... This is a great idea...I already said that it was a brilliant idea. The fact that Obama will snare a few adults for his fundraising database makes it even better. However, the fact is, stories have already been written to cover the likely nominees and as soon as those reporters receive their text messages, the name of the running mate will be known withing seconds by those who are not signing up for the announcement.

So, you would agree that the ONLY true winner of this is ..........Obama and getting to increase his list to contact people.

August 20, 200818 yr I already said that it was a brilliant idea. The fact that Obama will snare a few adults for his fundraising database makes it even better. However, the fact is, stories have already been written to cover the likely nominees and as soon as those reporters receive their text messages, the name of the running mate will be known withing seconds by those who are not signing up for the announcement. Only if those are listening to or watching a media outlet. For those who a cell phone is a primary communication device, we'll know it no matter what it is that we are doing. McCain can...and should...do the same thing.
August 20, 200818 yr You guys who think it is lame are not thinking. I read an article that talked about all the new cell phone numbers he has picked up for his fundraising list by those who have signed up to receive the text. It is a very savvy marketing move. :thumb:
August 20, 200818 yr Wow. Obama is so cool. lol Too bad we can't just vote via text message like American Idol.
August 20, 200818 yr So, you would agree that the ONLY true winner of this is ..........Obama and getting to increase his list to contact people. I agree, and I bet he will also sell the list to telemarketers. Any of them would.
August 20, 200818 yr In other news, McCain's announcement for VP should be arriving any moment via the Pony Express.
August 20, 200818 yr A little pep message the night before the election. :thumb: You can bet on that.
