They're #1 in the state, now...and will be at season's end. That's the only number that matters!

You lose a great back in the first series and it hurts. I put the glasses on the kid sitting on the bench and my heart went out for him, I told my son he might have a major propblem.

The way Josh was running early and often he would of had easily 200 yards rushing tonight.

After Josh went out tonight, Austin did get a couple of carries from the backfield. Highlands once again had problems getting the ball to the QB tonight!!! This is something that needs to be addressed quickly and I'm confident Dale gets this under control.

Hey let's not forget the Male kids. A tip of the hat and great effort to them! BOY, do the Birds miss Bathiany! Those missiles into the end zone and automatic extra points sure would have made a BIG difference tonite. I never like to lose, but that's why we went down there to play. To get tested and expose areas that we need to work on. And we have work to do! How quick was Male's Green? WOW! and #18 at qb looked very good passing and running. And I loved the quick pass to the TE...works at every level! Clint Crawford...I'm glad you're a Bird!! JC...here's hoping it's not bad and you're back out there tearing up yardage soon! Austin Collinsworth made some VERY fine catches and runs tonite...one costly fumble stretching for the endzone. Learn from it and move on...it was a scrimmage. Male played a VERY clean game...only 1 5 yd. penalty! Hmmmmm??? A lot of the "bad snaps" weren't all that bad...some were very catchable, but it is an area that we need to work VERY diligently on. That's why we scrimmage. Let's not forget Jerrod Frank...he had surgery today and had a "fist sized" piece of his calf removed due to an infection...he'll miss 8-12 weeks. Depth is becoming an issue! Look out Ryle...these boys will be ANGRY next Friday!

The guru mentioned he heard it was a broken fibula... any idea about what this means for a kid's chances at playing football that season? If it's true, is he going to be out for the whole year?

 

Also, that sucks to hear about Frank... I understand that he was going to be a major contributor on the defensive front in 2008. Hopefully, he will heal from his surgery well.

 

Well, one thing's for sure... with the last-minute loss of Conner (if the injury stuff is in fact true) and the issues with kicking/special teams and holding onto the ball, I think that the coaching staff is really going to earn their paychecks this year. The good news is that this staff has been up to the challenge in years past!

 

I remember the guru writing after the Beechwood scrimmage something to the effect of Highlands not being where they were at the end of 2007... I think that the Bluebirds may go through some growing pains in 2008, in ways that they did not in 2007.

 

Gosh, with the reality of these guys getting injured setting in, it makes me think of a recent post by leatherneck in a different thread, talking about how beat up some of the HHS players were after playing Colerain in 2005... I must admit that this game is starting to scare me, and I'm not talking about the final score. I do hope that the Highlands players are able to stay physically healthy against a Colerain team that just beat Cincy Saint X tonight.

On a different note, could someone please post who scored for HHS? Any TD passes for Guidugli?
