Garrard Co is a great choice for sleeper- true Lincoln and Boyle are solid, but I agree Deforest does an excellent job and his kids play tough D and are very patient on O. I can see them winning another 16-17 games this year---

Tyson is a HUGE 8th grader. What I meant to ask was will he get any Freshmen or JV time this year?

Two things about Garrard:

 

(1) They have to get quality point guard play. Losing Ploskonka to graduation hurts because he was the only experienced point guard in the fold. The replacement doesn't have to be great, just steady.

 

(2) Garrard County has to believe they can beat Boyle and Lincoln and then go do it. The Lions have only beat Boyle County once in the last ten meetings. They've lost seven straight to Lincoln County. Those two teams are beatable for Garrard, but they have to do it. And truthfully, they have to do it in a district tournament to make any impact.

From what I hear, Tyson will definitely see some JV time this year. He is a hoss and I really expect him to do well. Great work ethic.

I think it can be done but does Garrard think it can. Agreed with sportsfan- deliberate gets alot done in this region......Where is their district at this year- Boyle?? IF Aumille doesnt play could get real real interesting in that district this year

I haven't been around McCreary in a little while. Their middle school system is finally getting everything in place and sending great players to the high school. I look for McCreary to be consistently in the top five or six in the region year in, and year out. Assuming Watts is back for basketball, McCreary should run away with this regular season. Hopefully, they can understand that winning in the post season is what matters most, and I think they will.

I totally agree. There's some talented kids in 8th this year, but as an overall group, 8th grade will see a drop off the next 2 years from the past few we've had here. there's a nice group of talent at grades 6,5,and 4 though.

Garrard will be a solid team this year. Depends on foul trouble and development of a point guard. They will be fine.
