Woods and Jackson are clearly the top 2 coaches in the 12th. Coaching is primarily based on success and no one in the region can touch what these 2 have accomplished. The 12th does have several excellent coaches.

Wayne and Lincoln will contend for the regional title with Mccreary being a slight favorite. Look for Wayne County to win the 12th this year, they are due.

When the Raiders do somthing in the post season,then we will start to talk about the Raiders. Mr. Watts hands down the best in the 12th,maby they should let him be a player coach.

I could see Wayne winning it... they were dangerous last year. I agree with you about the coaches too.

Agreed with alot that is said on the post

1. Jackson is a great coach- has shown it at different schools. Woods is in the same company. I do think those 2 are tops but I think there is a couple other coaches who have shown with minimal talent or rebuilding they can coach also but are just alittle younger and might not have the same resume yet? Or maybe will never those top 2 have done it over and over.

I would put Hammonds at West in the mix with high results in short time with what was suppose to be rebuilding years at West. I would also include Schultz at SW as a top tier coach who deserves alot of credit. Last year was a down year but for the most part is a solid coach. Jones, Deforest and Flynn are also nice coaches that can make a difference in the outcome of a game.

 

2. Watts- yes best player in region but does need to get his team to the promised land this year.- The region

 

3. Lincoln- no way anyone should count them out- due to being a senior, would not surprise me at all if Spurlin doesnt walk out at Rupp as player of the year for 12th. With him, Jackson and some guard play and a year to get ready for post season and hosting the region- wouldnt be a surprise at all to see them semi night!

 

12th should be fun- but I do think as stated above a few people in the region can make differences in some close games and most all have proven it already.

I didn't say Lincoln was not top five because if you'll look, I typed "possibly" in bold. McCreary and Wayne, and possibly Boyle will all be ahead of Lincoln at this time.

 

I never said Raider Rob Jones was the best, or should even be considered one of the best in the region. I think you become the best by beating the best and even though Raider Rob has been stellar the past few seasons beating every team in the region, the post season is what matters most and they haven't performed. Until McCreary wins the region or makes a deep run again, Jones shouldn't be considered one of the best.

 

Wayne is dangerous, however, they've also been very inconsistent the past several seasons. If they can put it together, they'll be at the top of this region with McCreary. Give me until the middle of the season and I'll tell you if I think that Wayne will be a contender in March.

 

No doubt Watts is the best in the region.

Rob is a good coach and great guy, I agree he needs to get MCHS to the state tournament to be placed in the same catagory with Woods and Jackson. It is sometimes hardest to win with the best team.

Many of great coaches have never made the dance- takes some luck also!!!

Luck is very important, there's always that one game. One other point, a coach that produces quality young men would also have to be considered an outstanding coach as well. Sometimes those guys are overlooked.

Raider Rob may ride into Rupp this year/ Where he is mistaken for Tom Green off the subway diet.

I agree the 45th is wide open, but I really like our chances. Jeff knows what he has coming back and he is a master at putting the pieces together. I still say Lincoln is top 3 and maybe be the favorite come March.

The 12th Region had better hope that Robert Hammonds finds a job in a different Region or I think before long they will be contending every year. He did not have a very talented team last year with his best player being a sophomore, but almost won the region. I love the way his teams play defense. I would think if you are talking best coaches then he would have to be near or at the top.

The only coach that is on the level as Jackson is Woods from Wayne. I sure hope you were not referring to Rob Jones being a good coach.

 

Odd that you word that as Woods being on the same level as Jackson. In my book Woods is several levels ahead of Jackson. If Jackson continues to win district titles for the next decade or so along with a couple more region crowns and a few other deep runs into the region tourney then we, Oh wait I forgot. Play on Saturday night in Rupp Arena! Then we can discuss if Woods and Jackson are on the same level. Of course by that time Woods just might have gotten another win or two to add to his resume.

Both Woods and Jackson are Great Coaches. Sometimes Districts are weaker for some teams then others and easier to win, on the region total I think they are 5 and 6 respectfully. Now I will say Jackson has always had alot more talent to do it with esp at UHA. Woods might be a notch above in some eyes but Jackson has been doing it lately- so I would say they are even and considered both classy men- which goes along way in why thier programs are considered top notch

Both are terriffic coaches, why attempt to choose? I would say that Woods is definitely the dean of 12th region coaches. Some of Jackson's success came while at UHA.

Agreed - Woods is the Dean- Jackson is solid and Hammonds is making West very respectable in the 2 years he has been there with a controversial call 2 years ago and then last year losing in finals. I would say with Hammonds at West they are going to be a top 5 team every year- and always be in the hunt from now on.
