My wife is a teacher in the school system and that is what she has heard. She said it was a new state law, but I couldnt find anything about it when I googled it. I cannot see how they can police a thing like that.

I chew, but I am responsible with by spit. I despise those who spit on the concrete where others have to walk. They made their bed, they have to sleep in it.

We (the school I teach at) were told this year that it is a state law, too. Tobacco products are not permitted on school grounds.

It has been that way at GRC now for a few years.

Can anyone give me a site where I can read about this law and fwd it to our administrators?

...only with the women... LOL:D

:laugh::laugh: That's funny right there, I don't care who you are.

Fixed that for you. :thumb:

The state law covering tobacco in schools has been on the books for quite a few years, and I don't think it has changed. That law only applies to smoking, and even that isn't a total ban. Many school districts have gone beyond that with their own rules banning all tobacco products on school grounds, including smokeless.

It's a long way from the day when there was a smoking area for faculty AND students outside my high school, and IMO it's for the better. I'm not a big believer in bans, but there's no good reason why all tobacco shouldn't be banned at all schools.

Oh yea. I forgot those guys who open their doors at stop signs and spit out a big mouthful onto the pavement. Then I run over it with my jeep and have to wash it off. I'm sorry but school grounds are no play to have tobacco products. It also drives me crazy when I see someone in a car with four kids and they are smoking and the children have to breath it. I guess it's their kids they can subject them to it if they want. I'm an ex smoker.

Do you have to use your windsheld wipers too? :D

This is only my opinion (so be gentle LOL) but I think that if we don't want our kids to smoke until they are 18 then we shouldn't bring tobacco products to a place that's dedicated to them.

We know that a school is where children will be, whereas a pool hall is where adults will be. I'm not saying whether I do or don't support the smoking ban elsewhere, but in a school it's just the right decision in my book to keep the tobacco away.

Just spit in a bottle. Problem solved.

Agreed. Except then you're offending the people who pick through the trash to recycle.

The smoking is the worst. Our seat on the corner of the reserve section and people "hang out" against the side of the stands and the smoke just sails up. It's a major problem not just at Russell, but everywhere around here. I am all for people being able to smoke if they want- but they should have an area set aside for them to do so. And if it is true and you can't smoke then it needs to be enforced. There are so many cops at every game you could rob a bank in Downtown Russell and be in Mexico before they could respond, but they don't seem to enforce anything. They just stand around and watch the game unless a fight breaks out somewhere or someone gets hurt.
