Tobacco products at Russell

Featured Replies

The smoking is the worst. Our seat on the corner of the reserve section and people "hang out" against the side of the stands and the smoke just sails up. It's a major problem not just at Russell, but everywhere around here. I am all for people being able to smoke if they want- but they should have an area set aside for them to do so. And if it is true and you can't smoke then it needs to be enforced. There are so many cops at every game you could rob a bank in Downtown Russell and be in Mexico before they could respond, but they don't seem to enforce anything. They just stand around and watch the game unless a fight breaks out somewhere or someone gets hurt.

And they are smoking or dipping snuff, as well as the Fire and EMS personal that are at the games.

I think that they should have a special place like they do smoking. I think it is nasty to go to sit down and their is spit all over your shoes, not to mention you cannot sit your drink down because of it.

Not saying that this is a problem at Russell but, I believe its hard to inforce this rule when so many coaches use tobacco products(chew and dip). I have noticed this with many teams around the state. So it has to start there before it can be enforced with the fans.

Coaches nor Officials, are allowed to use tobacco products during any KHSAA games.

The cheerleaders can. And do at some schools.

:sssh:;):scared:

If true, who plans on policing this one?

Maybe the people who smoke or chew would be respectful enough and just follow the rules in place that it is not necessary "to enforce" or "to police" anything. Whatever happened to following the rules/laws and be a responsible citizen?

.... Spit free fields of play.

I know that there was a no smoking policy in effect. I've seen a lot of people that like their chew at games and usually they have a bottle to spit into and that seems to work out. Maybe the boosters can benefit by selling spit bottles at the gate.

Yeah . Recyclable spit bottle with the High Schools Name and Mascot on them . Then they can be reused the entire season .

Back in the ole days nobody care to play in spit.:D:cry:

I can only guess that you can't use Tobacco Products in any of the schools buildings either, or do you think it's okay for the teachers to smoke or chew while they are teaching? BTW I look at a coach as a teacher even on the football field, so why not include the stands also? I have yet to meet one adult who chews or smokes that doesn't hope that his/she children don't take up the habit! BTW can you drink adult beverages at Russell High School games?
