It'll only take one nuke for Iran to completely devastate Israel...If Iran attacks Israel, I fear WWIII may be in the makings.

It only takes reading the Bible to realize what God says about Israel. :D

I feel that this is a very dangerous, volatile situation as well.

Iran wants no part of Israel.

Iran has the backing of Russia so they feel confident! That's what makes this more of a world issue than a regional issue. You can't let them make nukes or we will all be in danger then again you can't attack without starting a world war. This is big trouble.

Israel has the backing of God. So I'm sure they feel fairly confident.

I've heard that no one with the name of Jeremiah is allowed to enter the country. :D

If I had to choose between us doing the blowing up and them doing the blowing up, I vote them. I'm not always sure that being the "world's policeman" is always a good thing.

I'm with you.

Questions (and this may not be appropriate for this thread, but):

Is the Israel of today, the Israel that God backs?

Is the Israel "vision", the vision of God?

These questions are always what come to mind for me when someone says that God backs Israel.

I know there is some debate over this, but to me it is the same land that Joshua and Caleb went into as spies, that Moses sent the people into when God promised it to them, and the Jews are decended from the people with whom God made His covenent.

I bet this one ends up in P&R now. Probably should have been from the beginning.

The nation of Israel has down through the ages been misguided (that 40 years in the wilderness thing comes to mind) I doubt God has forgotten nor forsaken his chosen people. IMO, our nation would be wise to continue to support Israel. The minute we turn our back on Israel, I'd fear the Sodom and Gomorrah treatment.

I thought Paul pretty much explained how they were still special but not "the chosen people" in the same sense of the OT. I thought that Christ made us all one and salvation brought the notion of the adoptive children of God.

How do you explain the OT prophesy that stated that Israel would once again become a nation (I'll have to look all this up if you want scriptural reference) and this didn't take place until recently and obviously after Christ's death and resurrection? If we were all adoptive then why would that prophecy have had to come true?

By the way, here's a link.

OK...Here's my next question:

If Israelis are the chosen people, what are we, as Christians?

I thought that to be saved, we had to accept Jesus as our Savior?
