I am not a fan of the 2 quarterback sytem... Where has this system worked?

 

Georgia a few years ago, David Greene and DJ Shockley.

And Brooks tried it with Lorenzen and Boyd and it failed miserably.

While the recieving corp is a little weak I think the overall talent level is up, so maybe it will better this time around.

I haven't see Hartline play to much but I just can't see UK going to another bowl game with him at the helm.

If Hartline wins the starting QB battle, Pulley must be on the field somewhere. He is too talented to sit on the bench as a back-up QB when he could be one of our top WR's or DB's.

It will fail way more then it will work. I am not too sure I can think of a time it has worked. I wouldn't call what Florida did two years and what LSU did last year a 2 QB system. Florida brought Tebow in for certain situations but not a 50/50 split. It wasn't even 80/20. I do remember Florida doing it with Palmer and Johnson years ago and it worked like crap.

Then UK needs to make a decision NOW. If they wait until August to declare a winner between them, and Hartline is the QB, then how can you get Pulley on the field in any kind of effective shape at another position?

If he isn't, then it will be because Hartline played lights out and won the job, or Pulley didn't get it done and lost it...if it's close, no way Pulley doesn't start the season under center. My guess is that this is just a motivational ploy...

Saying Hartline is in the lead could just be a ploy to get Pulley's attention and make him play harder and work harder. If Curtis doesn't get the picture by now then he doesn't deserve to be the QB.

The UK coaching staff is getting a lot of motivation from their players by discussing the quarterback competition through the press. It is typically a very healthy situation and I think the UK coaches are getting a lot of miles out of it.

 

I expect Curtis Pulley to take most the snaps in the fall, barring injury.

Quality QB's are self-motivated. If you have to resort to external ploys to motivate your team leader, then you're probably not going to have a unified, disciplined team. Players know when a teammate is dogging it or not buying into the coaches' philosophy or otherwise being disruptive (not saying Pulley is necessarily doing these things) and the result is a not very good "team." Maybe he will come around but the clock is definitely ticking as far as I am concerned.

Doesn't surprise me. Curtis has never shown me that he has the intangibles to be an SEC QB. He is a great athlete. Maybe he should be at another position.

I have a hard time believing this is a motivational ploy. Why would Pulley, after all that he has gone through, still need motivation of this type? Why would he need to be woken up?
