I Have a Root Canal Tomorrow...

Featured Replies

I've had five!!! The laughing gas was great. No real big deal, minor pain but nothing severe. Take the gas and enjoy the ride.

I wish I had some laughing gas during this procedure.

Catheters would be a new one to discuss. We haven't covered that topic yet.

You do not want to hear about my experience with a catherter. Or do you?:lol:

I have had two...one went really great, the other not so well. The tooth was saved, but, it had to be re done three times. Then I got a dry pocket in it....but, that was due to a tooth being broken off when I was little and it started to die when I reached 30....Root canals are not all that bad. You will be fine!

That's how I make it through a day of moderating BGP.:jump:

I had a horrible experience with my first one and came out of the chair after the dentist. I was no where near numb enough to start when he did. That was when I was 16 and I to this day have nightmares about it.:scared:

The dentist I've been going to since that first root canal has a sign in the lobby stating, "We cater to the coward".;)

Watch MARATHON MAN with Dustin Hoffman. It will certainly help fuel an already deep rooted fear of the dentist.:scared:

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A root canal is often less painful.

I can only imagine...

Are we still talking about catheters?

It took 3 visits to the dentist to complete my root canal. The first ended in sealing medication in the tooth for the infection. The second took the previous medication out and he put something else into to soften the calcification in the roots. He also uses some type of acid on the tooth. The third visit finished the root canal, but of course I had to go back to get a crown.

One of the best dental advances are the tools and polymers they use now that let them harden replacement material in the tooth in a matter of seconds.
