June 11, 200818 yr Author I hate to give credit to GT, but he may have been on to something when he said that Bailey may end up being a closer. He throws the ball too straight at this point of his career to face guys 3 times or more a game when he doesn't throw too many pitches for strikes. I think the Reds will trade Bailey before they make him a closer. He's still young & we've got Coco Cordero for the next 2 seasons.

June 11, 200818 yr The frontrunning on this site amazes me sometimes ... Bailey has had one decent start and one bad start since his promotion. He was up and down last year, and that's understandable considering he's now only 22. Give the guy a few starts to see if he's learned anything since last year ... everyone was ready to anoint Johnny Cueto as Cy Young incarnate after his first two starts, and look at his numbers now. It's a long season, guys ... every player goes through slumps and hot streaks. Let it play out. I agree and while Homer didn't have a good day by any means, Cueto has had some ruff outings also. Maddux Glavin every other pitcher in history You know, I try not to have a retort for your man crush on Homer, but pleeeeaaaaase, do you conceiveably have an earthly clue how many light years Homer is away from being an ace? Seriously. He's currently not in the same area code as an average #5 starter, on the worst team in the division no less. Good Grief, it's called reality! I think Homer has potential. Unrealized potential to this point, but tools to work with. His shortcomings have been talked about here ad nauseum but the sad truth if Belisle could get anyone out, Homer would still be in AAA.
June 11, 200818 yr Maybe I just really bought into the hype? I agree that Belisle would be there and I expected more from him, but he is not so Homer should learn while he can and if the Reds think he is not going to make it then they can trade him for what they can get.
