Krumps number two batter has been usually a sac man (read good bunter) and or a person who hits the ball to the opposite field, to move the runner along. It has been his "MO" for years and years, and that is why LaFever was batting second. In almost every game that I attended if Maile was walked, got a single, LaFever got up and then moved him or tried to move him to second to set up Darner and or Isler for the rbi. Never made much sense to me, especially against teams with weaker catchers, why not steal second, then bunt the runner to third, but.... then again Krumps has over 700 victories and I don't have a one as a coach for CovCath....

 

Indeed Coach Krumps does have over 700 victories and is one of the best coaches in nky. Not to take anything away from him but cov cath is loaded with talent year in and year out especially these last two years. It escapes me that they've lost 2 consecutive years in the regional finals? Anyone explain what the deal is?

I have also heard Josh Connor from Highlands was quite the baseball player. On the bright side of things, The Colonels only lose one starter, and thats the DH.

 

Josh Conner was the best player in NKY for his age when he played. And yes he was better than Maile. Josh devoted his time to playing football full-time to become a D1 running back because football is his passion when he arrived at Hghlands. He will definitely do that but there are many coaches who will tell you that he was actually a better baseball player.

Sometimes upsets happen. NewCath was hot in the 2008 tourney. One could argue that the 2007 championship was not an upset.

I'm with you my friend. Criticism of Coach K by some of the CovCath faithful and others is pretty unbelievable. The truly bizarre thing is that it's two Highlands guys pointing it out:D Admittedly, I don't follow baseball very closely but from those "baseball people" that I asked, they say that Coach K is by far the best baseball coach in N.Ky and one of the top couple in the state.

He absolutely was, but you have to continue to grow to be good in high school. There have been plenty of great 8th grade players that were full grown and dominated grade school that never even played in high school game.

A lot of kids get drafted which means absolutely nothing in the lower rounds. How high do you really think Mr Maile will go? These kids better see the light and go to college where they can mature/develop and get better at the game. Then, maybe sign after that. Very few do you ever see go all the way right out of H.S. Baseball, IMO, is the toughest professional to become because of all the minor leagues. A person could be in the minors for yrs and never see the big leagues.
