Kelly and Grosser didn't have a ball hit on a rope right at them, as all the CovCath fly balls hit to the OF were of the high pop out type. Not an excuse at all, but stating why I think the CovCath outfielder who btw is one of the better Center Fielders in NKy didn't catch those two balls. You could tell that both team just weren't getting good jumps on the ball and IMO it was due to the lack of seeing balls coming out of the crowd.

 

NCC won, and as I said outhit, out picthed and out played CovCath in this game.

Congrats to Ncc. Solid ball team and they well deserved it. It seems Cov Cath just like last year didnt have the pitching to win the big game, and had situations that didnt fall in there favor.

Congrats to NewCath and CovCath both. It was nice to see the local coaches rooting for NewCath in this one. Coach Schulkens is a class act and should get more credit for what he does. Good luck next week.

Exactly, first time in 20 yrs. Normally, if your team reaches the regionals, they are allowed in the rest of the tournament regardless if you are still playing or not.

 

 

Personally I think Coaches passes are given away to way too many non-coaches are very abused.

The ruling was because he felt he had farther to run to make the play...

 

If anything it was 3 more feet. That first one was a tough play. He was caught in "No Man's Land" on a shot hit right at him that headed right into the sun. After that he seemed to lose his confidence. I felt bad for him.

:thumb:I agree, I believe the kids and a couple of their coaches who are a part of that particular tourney should get in the rest of the tourney for free but all the rest should pay up.

All season long I knew what the CovCath biggest weakness was. It wasn't hitting or pitching, nor even it's "D", no the biggest weakness of this team was lack of team speed. You saw it tonight in the outfield

I think an important caveat in the background debate is that Cov Cath was hitting mostly fly balls while NCC was hitting line drives.

 

NCC forced the issue with solid contact while the Cov Cath bats just weren't getting it done...

 

Kudos to you for an astute observation.

Any thoughts on who might be a good candidate for the leadoff role for the Colonels next season? While it helped that Luke got on so much, it hurt in that you lost his bat further down the lineup.

Not exactly given away. Each school's A.D. fills out a list that is sent to the state w/$25/coach listed and usually 2/3 medical cards. It depends on who the A.D. puts on this list and there is a cut off for the number allowed.

 

It states on these cards that they are good for every high school sporting event w/the exception of special tournaments ie: districts/regionals/state and yrly fund raising tournaments. It is left up to each district/region to decide who are the freebee's. That is why basketball went w/each team having a pass list. In football, they let everybody who has a coaches pass in for free, unless you are at HHS and they don't even take them during the reg season. I guess they need the money?

I disagree... Yes VanSant can fly, but as a whole NewCath is a faster team than CCH.
