NewCath 9 CovCath 4 (9th Reg. Finals)

I have to agree, I dont think some of the decisions and things Coach Krumplebeck makes are very wise. CovCath has had the best talent in the region the last 2 years, but they cannot win the region, IMO alot of that is on the coach not just the players.

Really? How many at bats did Coach K get Friday night?

Oh yeah that's right on!!! Coach K might be IMO one the best coaches in the history in Ky high school baseball but he's not allowed to play anymore maybe an age thing I don't know???

NCC proved to be best all the way around and earned the Championship!

This does not even count the additional talent walking around the halls, choosing not to participate for a multitude of reasons. If you searched hard enough you could find those missing pieces. Names that come to mind ....Grimes, Bondick, Darpel, Gerwe..........

You could say that about any school....These guys chose to not play for a reason..another example would be Bankamper from Beechwood

I have also heard Josh Connor from Highlands was quite the baseball player. On the bright side of things, The Colonels only lose one starter, and thats the DH.

If you searched hard enough you'll find plenty of guys who were talented in grade school but didn't make it to the varsity level for a multitude of reasons. One such reason may be coaching. Another may be lack of talent. Another may be that they're interested in other things. Another may be that they're playing other sports and just aren't willing to play 3 sports year round.

Give me a break. You win and lose with what you have on the field & in the dugout.

I wouldn't mind Maile hitting leadoff if he had a better bat behind him. That lineup begged teams to pitch around him, and it could have been managed better IMO...

I'm curious GT, how many games did you watch the Colonels play this year?

I too find it hard to believe that the leadoff position is the best spot for Maile.

Saw tape of the 35th finals and all three regional games...

So I guess Darner and Isler, two of the best hitters in NKY, do not provide enough protection?

If one of them was in the 2 hole.

Krumps number two batter has been usually a sac man (read good bunter) and or a person who hits the ball to the opposite field, to move the runner along. It has been his "MO" for years and years, and that is why LaFever was batting second. In almost every game that I attended if Maile was walked, got a single, LaFever got up and then moved him or tried to move him to second to set up Darner and or Isler for the rbi. Never made much sense to me, especially against teams with weaker catchers, why not steal second, then bunt the runner to third, but.... then again Krumps has over 700 victories and I don't have a one as a coach for CovCath....

So is it safe to assume the Colonels will use the same lineup next year, as in Maile then LaFever , due to the fact that their entire lineup is back?

I'm sure the coach will think long and hard about that between now and March 2009.
