Night off for Maile?

Hunter plays for the Midland Braves 16U, not the 18U Redskins. There are no draft picks on this team, as they are all sophomores becoming juniors. I do not believe the Kings played the Redskins in that tourney - they played the Indians, which is Midland's 17U team.

 

Actually, Hunter Jones(he played 3rd and batted 10th) did play up with the Redskins the entire tournament last weekend and the Kings did play the Redskins on Sunday morning at 10:00AM at Midland and lost 7 - 2. They also played the Indians and on Saturday and beat them 10 - 2.

Maile, according to my info, was attending a showcase of some kind that was urged by one of the assistant coaches.

I believe the East Coast Showcase was held at Fifth Third Field in Dayton yesterday. Not saying that is where Maile was, but that is a very prestigious invitation-only showcase attended by many college recruiters and major league scouts (including, but not at all limited to, the Yankees).

Coop, he has been using a wooden bat for the last couple of games to hit with and I was told he was attending a Showcase yesterday (but I wasn't told where at), so that makes a lot of sense. I image that the MLB scouts would want to see him hit with a wooden bat, to rate his true hitting ability as ball player.

Is Luke hurt?

With the price of gas being so high and with the Colonels playing on the road of late so much, I haven't been to a game in a while. I will be attending the game tonight as the Colonels will be playing the Midland Redskins at Midland.

 

If Maile is hurt, I haven't heard anytime about it.

I heard that Luke got hurt on a "dirty play" at the plate. But thats just what I heard.

One player on the Colonels who has improved immensely on the defensive side is Tyler Holocher. He took a lot of heat over the last couple seasons but he has stepped it up--way to go!

Good to hear. I saw him this summer and he simply looks much more confident in making plays.

fwiw, talked to Luke. It was a little aggressive, but not dirty. Kid was trying to break up a 1-2-3 double play with bases loaded and slid to the front of the plate to clip him.

 

Anyway, he's 100% fine.

Luke had a slight bruise on his knee but is, in fact, 110%. From what I've heard he performed very well in the showcase and was accepted on to play in California.
