May 28, 200818 yr Author One game every 3 or 4 months? That would mean there was only one (possibly two) televised games the entire season. They do have a deal with ESPN2 and ABC to have games televised every week, and ESPN/ABC go out of their way to hype this... Not as many TV games as the NBA, but also not as many teams, and not enough interest. Me too on the bolded point. I bet you feel as I do that they should stop trying to shove it down the throats of men who simply aren't interested. Bill Simmons' take on the WNBA is a must-read.

May 29, 200818 yr I have a friend that does business with professional sports teams, and during the NFL meetings he said the NFL is getting worried that most of the people that are and will turning 18 in America are Hispanic, which essentially means less football players for them. Not saying that they won't play football but it's not likely. I never really thought about it like that, and how deep the professional sports industry really goes. Also he said the number one visited sports site from America is Man U soccer....maybe thats what ESPN sees in that all soccer channel.

June 2, 200818 yr This channel used to be great. Old World Series and NBA playoffs broadcasts from the '70s. Great old-school NCAA hoops and football games. The SportsCentury series. Nowadays, their program staples are: Rodeo (???????) Billiards (!?!) American Gladiators (!?!?!?!?) Bowling (?!?) Poker (C'mon, haven't they beaten this fad to death?) Boxing (don't really mind it, but they have some really obscure stuff) AWA Wrestling from the '80s (actually, not too bad, but I was a fan in those days) Soccer (!?!?!) Auto racing, and not just NASCAR (?!?!) Cheap Seats (not bad, but I'm not a regular watcher) You Can't Blame (not bad, but it seems like they've only made about 10, as I see the same ones repeatedly) I ask, what happened? Is ESPN actively trying to kill off this channel? It used to be great! What the heck is up with these silly niche offerings? Of all the items listed, the only one I like is Cheap Seats. Seems like every time I turn on ESPN2, there's a bowling match from the 1980s.

We've been watching good basketball all week. Tonight we'll turn on Celtics-Lakers and the ball just won't be as good!
June 12, 200818 yr Author Today has been Magic v. Bird day. They just got done with game 4 of the '87 finals, where Magic wins the game with the baby-hook across the lane. Now it's '79 Indiana St. v. Michigan St. Oh yeah, and with Billy Packer and Al McGuire doing the color and Dick Enberg on PBP.

Sure it was the first game of the Bird/Magic rivalry, but the game was not that good.
