You shouldn't have two Halls and you shouldn't have two Cawoods, and Harlan County Middle School won't work because it's not a middle school.

 

My proposal: Browning Acres Elementary School.

My second proposal: South Harlan County Elementary School

It's off the subject but since you brought it up, why would they call it Hall Junior High? Hall is in Grays Knob, and I think was named after the family that donated the land there.

 

Never really thought about that HDE. You have a point I guess.

I know we are digressing now, but will the Evarts and Cumberland middle school football teams stay separate or will they join with the other schools with the New Harlan middle school team? That is something I never understood, especially now that the high schools are together anyway.

I think it makes sense to keep middle schools teams at Cumberland and Evarts. New Harlan doesn't need any help at this point and it allow more players to get experience.

I'm actually with you on more players getting to play for more/better players later in high school, but it seems by that thinking they would have kept the old West Harlan/Cawood setup instead of dressing so many on one team with New Harlan.

The SBDM members of the school met today and discussed a new mascot/colors. It's looking like they will be the Trojans. As for the colors, red will be in it, probably mixed with the royal blue - similar to Jackson Co. This is not set in stone, though.

 

The school name was mentioned because Hall was named after a family, but it will probably remain the same. Personally, I like your second proposal.

You need a fresh start. It would have made a lot more sense to keep the colors than the name. It's way too confusing to try to move the name.

 

You'll have Hall when it was Hall and Hall when it was Cawood. You have a different building at a different place. Why would you use a name that doesn't have anything to do with another building?

What are the other seven going to be doing? Are all of these paid assistants or are they just there to help with whatever is needed.

What is a quick background of each coach other than Coach Larkey, please?

My sources are telling me that Jacob will be around when possible helping out anyway he can. I don't understand Dondi not coaching, seems like he has been on the sidelines for years and someone told me he had more time as a player and assistant than anybody with the Cawood program? I have been hearing he might surface as the other coach on the basketball staff. I guess we will have to wait and see but it makes sense.

What are the other seven going to be doing? Are all of these paid assistants or are they just there to help with whatever is needed.

 

Not being rude, but when you get outside Harlan County you will notice the staff of sports programs that do it the right way. Football isn't like it was back in the 70's and 80's when basically the head coach was the only coach on the field. Good programs aren't coached by 3 or 4 guys anymore. Good programs have position coaches for the different positions. For example, on defense you might have a defensive line coach, ends coach, inside linebackers coach, outside linebackers coach, corners coach and finally your secondary coaches. Usually, at least three that will coach the froshmen and another 2 or 3 for the JV. I think comparing this staff to football programs that try to do it right, Harlan County High is on the right path. I am sure Larkey has a plan and responsibility for all of his assistants. If I was guessing I would say he would even use more if he had the opportunity to get them.
