May 9, 200818 yr Yes it is an Arisaka, the seal has been filed off, My uncle picked it up in WWII and they made them file off the seal before they could bring it home. There are very few with the seal still on them as far as I know, it is not worth a whole lot, but it is very sentimental. I have some old ammo for it and it still shoots, I have fired it about 6 times. I also have a German dagger picked up by one of my uncle's as well.
May 9, 200818 yr What caliber are you looking at in each? What other guns do you own? Do you prefer a revolver or semi.? Will you use it for self defense and concealed carry as well as plinking? I'm looking for something more than a .22 but less than a .45. If it were the Sig, I'd have it set up for .40 cal or maybe 9mm. If it were the revolver, I'd go with their new .327 Federal/.38 special model. I've never owned a gun in my life. Only fired a gun on two occasions. I'm leaning toward the revolver, because the complexity of the semi scares the crap out of me. This will be strictly for targets. I'm not going to be packin'. The home defense issue is still up in the air -- but if I did, it would have a proper lock!

A buddy of mine's dad has one with the seal still on it. I fired it a few times, and as far as bolt actions are concerned I was not impressed. It is however extremely cool to handle a piece of history like that.
