May 9, 200818 yr Author I'm looking for something more than a .22 but less than a .45. If it were the Sig, I'd have it set up for .40 cal or maybe 9mm. If it were the revolver, I'd go with their new .327 Federal/.38 special model. I've never owned a gun in my life. Only fired a gun on two occasions. I'm leaning toward the revolver, because the complexity of the semi scares the crap out of me. This will be strictly for targets. I'm not going to be packin'. The home defense issue is still up in the air -- but if I did, it would have a proper lock! The new .327 Fed. is a nice cartridge and being it can fire .38 Special, it will be cheaper to plink with and a nice gun to start with. Go with the revolver:thumb:

If you live in the NKY area, I'd be more than happy to meet you at a range sometime. I've been a firearms instructor for 20 years. That all being said, my favorite weapon that I own is a S&W Model 66 with a 4" barrel that I have had the trigger pull lightened quite a bit. I actually won a few police olympic shooting medals with it several (many?) years back going up against guys with a 6" barrel.

I'm coming into this as a complete neophyte. The main thing about the semis that scares me is the maintenance. I'm afraid I'd put it back together wrong and it would explode! My brother had a sharpshooter badge and (I think) won some police matches here in NKY as well.
