NobizLikeShowbiz Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 The Derby is just over a week away, thought we could use a thread about what horses everyone likes. Lets hear it...
CoachBuckett Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Derby is a great time of year. It is a Holiday week with my family.
jahearme Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I really think Pyro will bounce back with a vengeance after his poor showing in the Bluegrass. I also like Colonel John.
Original Rookie Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I hate everything about it. :creepy: The Derby is the only thing I like in all of Lousiville!
Jim Schue Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Big Brown looked the most impressive of all during the preps. In a normal-sized field I would feel comfortable playing him at low odds. But in a big field, it's best to look for value buys. Z Fortune, Tale Of Ekati and Bob Black Jack all look like nice possibilities at good prices.
Jim Schue Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 The Derby is the only thing I like in all of Lousiville! Which is sad.
jahearme Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 The Derby is the only thing I like in all of Lousiville! Oh come on! The only REALLY bad thing in Louisville is that basketball team! This will be my 6th Derby in a row and we have a great time in the city. Of course it helps when you get to go to the Crown Royal/Playboy party every year! :dancingpa
Original Rookie Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Which is sad. Naw dawg. I will throw the bars in the like category as well.
RebelBred Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I was going to goto the Derby, but instead I'll be playing golf on Marco Island!
NobizLikeShowbiz Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Big Brown looked the most impressive of all during the preps. The absence of War Pass increases Big Brown's chances a lot. The pace will still be quick but not as quick now that War Pass is not running. I do like Z Fortune and think he could run big. Also Court Vision could be a play at a nice price. I just think this is a mediocre crop of 3 year olds and Big Brown is a very talented colt. His pedigree on the top (Boundary) doesn't have the distance stamina but the bottom side looks pretty solid. I dont think the extra 8th of a mile will be a problem for the Big guy!
75center Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I'm going against Big Brown as his odds will be way too low and I'm concerned about only 3 races. He certainly should have a clean trip as the speed. Count me as a Z Fortune fan also. I am also waiting to see Pyro's odds and post as I'm not yet ready to throw him out based on his polytrack dud.
