April 21, 200818 yr UH OH!!!! You are about to get it. A bunch of posters are going to be sending you links claiming that marijuana is not addictive. BTW, I agree with your assessment.:thumb: Yeah, marijuana isn't addictive. People who smoke it can quit anytime they want...they just dont want to. lol
April 21, 200818 yr I agree that all should be tested if your going to test the athletes, but it would be a bad thing if just the athletes were tested. In our school the only way they drug test is if there is "probable cause."
April 21, 200818 yr Are all of the school districts employees tested? Teachers are not. Bus drivers are for obvious reasons.
April 21, 200818 yr Teachers are not. Bus drivers are for obvious reasons. That's what I thought. Bus drivers are mandated by Federal law because they have a CDL license.
April 21, 200818 yr In my district they are having informational meetings and could possibly starting to drug test athletes. Believe it or not, reviews are mixed. What is your opinion on this? Should just athletes be tested? What about coaches? What about regular students? Fire Away 1. Yes 2. Yes 3. Yes Also, add the Administration, any and all teachers, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, janitors along with anyone else that is even remotely a member of any group, club or employee of the school (any school) in any way.
April 21, 200818 yr I personally think singling out the athletes is wrong. If you are going to drug-test then random the whole school/student body. They do urine test typically... and I take they are testing for THC, Narcotics ? Teachers definetely should be... or any other employee at the school.

No way a kid gets tested if the adults aren't.

The place that I work runs a pretty standard urine test that checks for THC, opiates, amphetemines, Darvon, barbiturates, cocaine and benzos. That covers the big substances of abuse. However, if you are looking for steroids, that is a different test which certainly can be added.
April 21, 200818 yr I agree with this. No way a kid gets tested if the adults aren't. Why? Students can wear shorts, should I be allowed shorts? I get to drive to school but not every 16-year old with a driver's license get to drive to school. I get to use the teacher's lounge bathroom and have soft drinks during the day, should students? You are not saying that teachers should be handled the same as students are handled, are you?

You're right, I am not saying that. I say teachers should be handled more stringently that the students. We have been down this path before.
April 21, 200818 yr It would be good, but it is really expensive and I would question whether or not the school board can actually afford to do this.
April 21, 200818 yr Author Thats what is most interesting, ESS (extended school services) is being cut, but money is going to be there to fund drug testing? Doesn't work in my mind. I think the district has proposed that it would be funded by outside sources.
April 21, 200818 yr Most schools doing testing test all extra curr. activities. Athletics, clubs, studnts who drive to school etc. The courts do not allow testing for all students. Testing for performance drugs is much more expensive but could be done randomly in say 10% of the other random test.
